Valuev sounds off in an interview @ fight news, he demands more money citing the percentage his promoters and managers take from him, leaving less in his own pockets. Maybe he should have thought about that before he signed with Sauerland and Don King?

And he - as a challenger who brings no belt to the table - still insists on both a guaranteed million dollar pay check and a percentage of global TV revenues. How delusional is this moron?

Has it occurred to Valuev that fighting more often is also a way to make money he seems so desperate for? He's been sitting on his arse since his loss to Haye and not even attempted to make a fight with someone else instead preferring to position himself on the receiving end of Vitali's generosity he seems to take for granted...

The ironic part is that Valuev made between $1 million and $1.5 million for most of his WBA title defenses from Sauerland as the main attraction. That's when he was a belt holder.

Now he has no belt, lost his last fight, had no tune up and did not want to fight in an eliminator. Vitali comes along, offers him the same type of pay check that he used to get when he was the champ but now all of a sudden it's not good enough. Hilarious.

    Yeah but.....

Vitali needs to let the man have the money because he needs a big fight and those 2 will make a BIG fight. Also see how Vitali springs a surprise visit on Valuev - "I happen to be in town wanna meet for coffee?" - lol - sounds to me like Vitali wanted to see Valuev up close and get some perspective on being the little man. This fight cetainly puts Vitali out of his comfort zone from the bell - he won't be able to stick and move like Haye or lean and jab as effectively as he usually does - I still think Vitali wins but its one of the few HW fights people want to see (I'd prefer to see Haye/Vitali - as Haye has a better chance)

If Vitali offers better terms the damage to his pocket will be a lot smaller than the damage to his legacy if he doesn't

He needs to fight the best around now before its too late even if the best around is a bit of a freak show.

If you're "the man" you don't listen to ridiculous demands of challengers. If Valuev doesn't want to fight for $1.5 million then let him go get a day job as a janitor. See if he makes him more. If Haye wants more than 50% then let him keep go on UK daily talk shows and celebrate the opening of a couple more public gardens and parks if that's what he thinks his calling is.

Vitali doesn't give a rat's ass about his legacy. He's doing more than can be asked of him trying to get these wanna-be contenders into the ring. If they don't want to fight then you simply move on to the next guy in line and ask him if he's got the balls and an iota of respect for the sport and it's history.

Yeah and there lies the problem.

He doesn’t understand that order to make big fights happen he must make compromises in negotiations

This is potentialy the biggest fight in history. With a combined hight of 13 feet 7 and 1/2 inches i cannt think of a fight with more verticle prowess.

I think Vitali may start to realize that a win over Valuev means very little at this point and the attractiveness of Valuev as an opponent is declining every day that passes by.

Who is Valuev going to fight? Vitali? No, not enough money. Haye? No, he "runs too much" (Valuev's own words). Solis? No, not enough money.

So what's it going to be Valuev? My take is retirement and then a job as a janitor. Or maybe as a tour guide through the wilderness of the Ural Mountains of Russia.

Note he wants both, a guaranteed multiple million dollar paycheck AND TV rights. Considering he brings no belt to the table these demands are totally unheard of and borderline criminal.

Klitschko makes something like 20-30million a fight, this fight will generate more because its a bigger name, pardon the pun. Valuev should be offered more money, he's on about 3% of the purse right there keeping 97%, which is criminal.

    Sorry, but...

Valuev is big but not able to use his size well. Vitali easily beat up a 28 year old Larry Donald, Valuev needed a gift decision against the 40 year old version. Vitali took 6'8 Timo Hoffmann as a tuneup fight right after his shoulder surgery and won 11 of 12 rounds. It's relation of size and skills that matters, not just size alone. Vitali has excellent reflexes for his size and is great at making opponents miss. Valuev probably would be beaten by the top 20 HW's now, given his abysmal performances against Chagaev, Ruiz, Holyfield, Haye. I don't see Valuev beat Gomez or Arreola and even Kevin Johnson might outpoint him. Vitali and Valuev are on totally different levels of ability.
