When he entered the ring against Tarver in their first fight he seemed to have aged over night, it may have been the struggle to make weight but his body just didn't look like it had before.

The fight that unfolded confirmed my initial observation.

People say he was shot AFTER he got KO'd by Tarver. But they sure as **** weren't singing that tune right before that fight happened, that's for sure. Fanaticism is annoying.

Shot after Ruiz has to be the dumbest response he won a HWT belt and moved down and won against the numero uno at 175

Tarver 2 was a lucky punch

Johnson was a beating and bad KO

Tarver 3 he showed some of his old brilliance but was not active enough to win

Danny Green exposed his refelxes and landed a great right when his left was at his waist

    He did nothing vs BHop

Im not gonna call him shot because after every loss he reinvents himself

He loses but dominates former champs like Tito and Lacy

I feel like since the KO's to Tarver and Johnson he could beat anybody below A level talent

now though his age may finally be catching up

Like the Tyson fans the second the guy loses he is considered 'shot'. Funny how that works.

Shot gets tossed around alot Tyson I thin was beyond his best after Lennox

Jones probably the Hopkins fight or Green fight from 04 to 08 or 09 he could beat alot of the the top at 175 i beleive he could have beaten yusef mack or chris henry or diaconu

After he stop taking steroids, That means after the Ruiz fight. He went from super steroids cheater man to super bum. Yes you too can be like Roy Jones but you have to destroy your body for inside with steroids. Are you willing to take the risk? bigger, faster, stronger means $$$$, but at what price? this world is a farse like the americans cheater puppets athletes.

He was declining in his early 30's even before the Ruiz fight. As far as being "shot," coming back down in weight certainly destroyed his body which in return effected him mentally.

As far as labeling him "shot," you could do it after what we saw the Tarver I fight since we are either comparing it with his fight with Ruiz or at his absolute peak. He looked like a damn ghost trying to fight his way back into his body.

If not that, certainly with the Johnson fight.

Either way, he was not the same fighter when he returned. To old for his body to even have any chance to recover as well.

    Really?

PEDs are World-Wide and were started by non-Americans. Americans found out what the Russians were doing back in the 1950's so they decided to join the club. The Rest of the World Followed and all do it today.

By the way, the muscle weight-loss effected Tarver when he came back down and fought Hopkins. He looked drained. Said so himself. Yes, he added weight for a movie but all the same.

Same happened to Chris Byrd when he moved down to LH. Got destroyed. Looked dead. He too noted the weight-loss as a huge mistake.

Oscar De La Hoya can be added to this list as well. Became a walking corpse.

So the combination of AGE, and Muscle-weight loss = not so good.

Very good quote and similar to how I see it. Very honest in my opinion.
After losing to Tarver in their third fight, Jones would still have been favoured to beat Woods for example who was a world champ at the time and someone Jones beat some years previous.

In the fight Tyson had with Botha, Ferdie Pacheco pointed out that Tyson was showing signs of being "shot." But that goes away quickly with the big punch to fans. They are easily swayed. Even Lewis called Tyson a "has-been" before their match.
Lewis took the fight because of Money, and most of all, because people wouldn't let up about him not having fought Tyson yet.

Oh, and Foreman noted after watching Tyson fight Ruddock in the second fight that he looked gone as a fighter (compared to earlier years).

Tyson was long gone by then.

Tyson wasn't shot against Douglas. He just wasn't trained properly; wasn't prepared. And didn't live a clean life at that point. All that played a role in him having less of a chance to win. So Stupid, but not Shot.

For Jones; no denying the man looked ill against Tarver compared to his bout with Ruiz. He could barely get off punches. His legs were certainly gone. And when your legs are gone as an athlete in these types of sports, so goes you.

Of course with "shot" you can factor in a difference between Mentally Shot and Physically Shot...or just use the combination of the two. Either way, they both matter.

Yes many were actually. They noted how bad he looked against Tarver in the first match. The weight-loss reason was noted right after the fight.

His legs were first to go ..In the fight with Johsnon he was a sitting duck ..In the 3rd fight with Tarver his hand speed was there but you could see his reflexes being gone ..
