if lyle was in his primes and jake lamotta was in his primes could lyle knock him down?afterall lamotta fought some serious hitters like satterfield and ended up winning. could this be a k.o for lyle or does jake shrug off lyles blows and wins this match?

    I think Lyle wins it.
LaMotta was a big middleweight and a decent 175-pounder but he never fought anyone this huge. And Lyle was not just big, he was good.

Lyle would take off La Motta's head. This isn't a serious match up.

Remember lyle bounced Foreman up and down like a basketball. Lyle in under 3 rounds.

I agree, but it is not as totally unbelievable for Lamotta to do okay as it seems. Although it is worth noting that Lamotta was stopped by the two biggest fighters he fought, although one was reportedly (admitted by la motta) a dive and the other was when Lamotta was very old.

The Satterfield fight, even though Bob was only light himself at the time, is a fight against a big hitter by any standards, but i tend to think that LaMotta is overated and Bob Satterfield, wasnt known to be all that durable. I cant see Lyle having much if any trouble with Lamotta, though that could change if i were a bigger fan of Lamotta.

Incidentally, does everyone think that Lyle vs Satterfield would be the same mismatch? I would have to say that i would, but there are probably some big satterfield fans here.

LaMotta could beat a 50 year old Ron Lyle.

Lyle KOs LaMotta. Too big and tough. For jake it would be one step too far. We're talking about a decent sized heavyweight banger against a middleweight here for christ sake

i mean anything's possible but other than his chin and his cunning, lamotta didn't bring much to the table

for a middleweight, he had an all time great chin. but how does that hold against a heavyweight?

even if he survives, he was no ali and lamotta would get hit while bringing virtually nothing that can hurt lyle.

Oh do I disagree with you about Jake not bringing much to the table. For having short arms Jake could out jab the best when he wanted, including Robby, he threw every punch there is to the head and body, although some of those were in his own unique way. Stamina, a punch in both hands, and my candidate for best chin and toughest fighter awards.
