Different kinds of speed? What nonsense. Speed is speed. Ali was probably quickier because he didn't commit to punches, Tyson did. Tyson threw hard punches faster than anyone in heavyweight history, and it isn't even close. And I'm nt even a Tyson fan.

Exactly. Ali did not have the same speed as Tyson when they both throw their hardest punches possible. Tyson put everything into every punch and he still managed to have blinding handspeed and smooth combinations. I don't know who other than Tyson can do it like that.. Throw every punch with full commitment and still be so fluid at that speed.
I think Tyson had quicker hands. Tyson was able to throw hard punches very quickly. When Ali threw fast flurries they were not fully committed punches. Ali's foot speed was vastly quicker than Tyson's.
clearly ali, in terms of foot and hand speed the ali that won the title from liston is the fastest heavyweight ever
yep. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zUut60gfkU[/ame] that RJJ wasn't at his peak weight or speed anyway.
