I don't really care for this fight, Margocheater has zero significance and this belt has zero significance. This is a shotgun wedding and Bob's holding the shotgun. All I can add otherwise is at least Manny is fighting someone and someone that's not a gimp so I suppose it will be entertaining.

The WBC just wanted a reason to showcase their brand spanking new DIAMOND BELT!!!!! Are you ****ing kidding me?! What a load of bull**** that was. Pacquiao didn't demand that, it was the WBC who wanted it. Just the WBC. Both sides agreed obviously but it was because of the bull**** Sulaiman group which heavily pushed it.

It wouldn't suprise me if it was the same again, seeing how Sulaiman is biased towards Mexican fighters and his DIAMOND BELT!!!! is his pride and joy.

That's why I couldn't give a **** any more. Just let the best fight the best at whatever weight. Titles stopped meaning anything when Bob Arum was 23 years old, so I don't know why anyone acts like they are relevant in 2010.

 

The biggest hang-up most had with the manner in which he was gunning for Cotto's title was his unwillingness to honor the actual welterweight limit. Cotto held his ground for as long as he could, demanding that the fight either takes place at 147 pounds for his title -- or at Pacquiao's suggested catchweight of 145 but without the alphabet hardware at stake.

With nobody looking out for his best interests -- Arum promotes both sides but was never going to tell Pacquiao to back down -- Cotto eventually gave in, agreeing to the catchweight and accepting the payday that came with title fight.

Margarito isn't the best at 154lbs, no. I was grouping the best at 154 when I said that and Margarito is amongst the best at that weight.

None of whom are as good as Margarito though. Bradley, Alexander, Maidana etc., just get battered. At least Margarito can take Pacquiao's shots and will press the fight all night. The young fighters at 140lbs would be knocked out whenever Pacquiao got bored.

 

Titles basically don't mean anything anymore, and this is just one of the reasons why.

I could agree with that. IMO the only fights for Pac are Margo, PW, Martinez, Floyd. Floyd is out and Margo looks like the easiest out of the three. PW is a freak, his size is too great and well Martinez is no shrimp either. Margo was the safe bet.

What do you mean "who cares"? It matters when these are supposedly record breaking, history making fights. He will have a title in an 8th weight class, without fighting a 154 pound champion and forcing the fight 4 pounds below the division limit. This is ridiculous! :-(

 

imo he is cheapening the titles before he even fights for them, because of who he is he can dictate terms and make it easier for himself, he don't seem to wanna do things the proper way.

I don't like catchweights but I don't blame Manny for it. This is all a about fighting strategies outside the ring and his team has the winning hand all the time, why? because he is so famous that the other boxer will do anything just for the money that a fight with Manny will bring to the table.
