Noticed there was a thread saying our journeymen arent up to U.S standards. It seems even our TROLLS aren't that good either. Its called a Boy from Bolton. Barry McGuigan does a medicore foreward but its a good read. You might learn something though you'll only come on here and get the facts wrong anyway eg, Gavin Ko'd Khan in ams
Don't know what this has got to do with the price of bread tbh. But, thanks I might look into it if you recommend it.
At the same stage as Frankie(age 24) is now, Khan would of been age 19 at 7 fights in his pro career, Khan will be 5 years younger. It would of been a good fight to see as both have got great amateur backgrounds.
hello all this is my first post on esb iv been reading the discussions on this forum since 2007 and wouldnt mind playing my part in some of the boxing talk ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- as good as gavin is there is no Wow factor about him from all the other olympians warren has he's probably the best 1 out of the lot (not to say any of the others are anything special they are not) dodgy chin aside with khan you knew when you first saw him he could 1 day tangle with the best (maybe it was the hype) but with gavin i havent seen that, hes a good southpaw fighter and he hasnt shown us hes nothing more then that. even as an ammature he never produced the same kind of flashy performances as kid khan did, if they fought in 2years time when gavins got more fights under his belt and may have picked up a belt along the way i'd pick khan by TKO in a 1 sided fight, as iv said gavin strikes me as a good southpaw with average power i think he'll be too open and if he tried to fight inside khan would outmucle him.
Good 1st post and good points, the more i think of this fight the more i think Khan cuts him to pieces with a stoppage around the 8th and that all depends on his chin as it could be a lot quicker than that.
Gavin has showed alot more class than Khan did early in his career;doing the basics far better and not looking reckless at any point. Khan has improved a hell of a lot and would be my pick if they fought but if I was to only go by their early fights I'd have no problem picking Gavin.
I have sparred c Amir on about twenty occasions sometimes he got better sometimes I did but not a lot in it an khan net much bigger than me like some quotes say on here there net much dif in size granted his a lot more defined but that don't make u a better fighter it's far to early to say an I got a lot of work to do to even get where khan is let alone fight him but hopefully one day I will get there, he was faster but I had better foot work IMO but hopefully one day were find out
Great 1st post. I have watched a little bit of him and I was thinking the exact same thing. There was nothing that made me go Wow or believe that this guy will be a great champion. I was beginning to think that maybe there is something I was missing? He does the basics right and does the defensive part right but I don't really see any offense there.
Ask ur mate Karl when we sparred which granted is only sparring but I'm a better fighter than the one which spars an that was embarrassing
Thanks for the great responses fellas, i want to emphasise that i'm impartial when he comes to fights and i have no bias towards my pick i think frankie gavin will develop into a decent enough fighter however as harsh as it sounds so far hes only shown me hes somewhere around european-fridge world level and the lad is 25 years old, i hope he proves me wrong and showns us all he's more then that.
age in boxers makes no difference whats so ever, some peak early, some peak late, some were absolute **** as a am,then get a british belt in the pro's. khans young,so what,he has been brought on fairly fast, got the easy fights, not top notch world champs, more like stand in champs. IMHO,when he steps up he will get found out,i think his promoters know this.his peak is somewhere near as for gavin,he is the best of the bunch,a southpaw,****ing scum:bbb,a good dig, which will get harder as his body grows, good movement at his feet and his head, needs to tighten up a bit,is still a bit amateurish with his defence, but is improving all the time, will get better, ive no doubt.:good
