Why catchweights are ALL WRONG for the Pac/Margarito fight!

True there is no reason to whine about catch weights. That isn't the problem. If Manny (or anyone else) was fighting another title holder who felt it in his best interest to fight at a catch weight to make the fight the fans (and his bank account) wanted? It is fine. We might talk crap, but catch weights are a part of boxing.

The problem here is that somehow a WW who was never particularly successful at 154 and barely deserves a ranking, title fight, or big fight and a WW who won't challenge any legit 154 title holder are fighting a TITLE ELIMINATOR for a 154 belt and doing so NOT at 154. How can you lay claim to the 154 title?

You see what is wrong here? Why doesn't Pac (or any other fighter) go up to MW? SMW? Hell HW? It is no issue! HW title eliminator at a catch weight of 160! With smoke and mirrors such as this the possibilities are endless!

All we have to do is have a vacant title and the promotional clout to have two in house fighters jump EVERYONE in the division to fight for the title at whatever weight we desire!

Catch weights are not the issue. Boxing Poli-tricks is. :deal

I hope this is a lie and all of this criticism is either unfounded or changes Arum's mind.

My ire is not really aimed specifically at Pac. It is at Arum attempting to manipulate boxing history and Pac just rolling with it.

I hope it isn't true, but the scene is pretty solid.

Yeah catch weights are a part of boxing but gotta agree with the OP. PAC either needs to man up and take it at 154lbs or make the fight at 147. IMO it's only being made because money talks and the sanctioning body wants a piece. It is what it is boys.
