Why do people continue to suggest Floyd is the greatest of all time when he hasn't even shown that he's the greatest of the current generation?

Whenever a difficult challenge comes along, PBF always heads down to his favourite restaurant and orders the duck.

Circumstances have a lot to do with whom he fights. JMM was a tune up fight for him. Even if he fought a smaller guy, he fought someone who is a top P4P fighter. Not bad for a "tune up" fight. Shane Mosley was the best challenger you could match Floyd with at the time, not to mention it was a dangerous match for Floyd. Yet he still found a way to win 10, maybe 11 rounds out of 12. If Floyd ends up fighting Pacquiao next year, which I think will likely happen, he would have fought 3 top P4P guys consecutively. And if he defeats Pac, what are people going to say? Pac is too small? Margarito softened Manny up?

According to the average fan, when Floyd doesn't fight the guy whom people want him to challenge, it's called, "ducking." The interesting thing is that logic can pretty much apply to any boxer. Even a guy like Paul Williams has been called out for not fighting Pavlik. So even if Floyd is ducking, he's just doing what everyone else in boxing is doing which would make him no bigger of a coward than your favorite modern day fighter. To me clear cut ducking is when a fighter basically promises to do one thing only to back out eventually.

Floyd would be like the Superbowl if the Steelers played a high school team or some other carefully selected team.
Football fans wouldn't put up with the best NFL teams avoiding one another.

That is what is so damn frustrating... If he fought Pacquiao right now, he would get all the credit in the world. But instead he is avoiding the matchup. He never fights the best when they are the best.

I am beginning to believe that the only way we will see the Pacquiao Vs. Mayweather matchup is if Pacquiao looks bad or gets beaten. At which point Floyds victory would once again be diminished.

It isn't the fault of the fans that for the most part Mayweather hasn't fought a truly dangerous fight since entering the Welter Weight division... This was his chance, and once again he walked away from it.

I see people on here talking about Floyd fans, but I say what about the Pac Fan. This is what I find funny in all of this is that the Pac fans out there if they are real fans. They would know that Arum is the spin doctor a Liar oops I ment Lawyer by his own admission. Tell me what is a Lawyer best at telling the truth or twisting the truth. Before you answer realize that most of the politicians are Lawyers or should I say Liars. If you are a real fight fan you would know Arum is the new scum of boxing taking Kings place.

Mayweather is worse than the part-time DLH who held up the sport in his twilight years. Atleast that fishnet wearing freak sought the best fights, getting in the ring in his thirties with Hopkins, Mayweather and Pacquiao when they were all prime and P4P#1. Now he was like the Superbowl..that coward Mayweather is more like the Olympic Marathon

But the criticism can go the other way as well. When Floyd wanted the fight back in March, Pacquiao wasn't ready or so it seemed to me. He had just come off a pretty tough fight with Cotto in which Manny's ear might not be able to heal before March 13th. That said, I have strong speculation that Roach encouraged the entire team to back out of negotiation. I don't think they would've been ready for an elite like Floyd in such a short period of time after a physically demanding fight with Cotto. And let's get a better perspective - Floyd isn't exactly a spring chicken. By the time the fight gets made in 2011 he would be 34 yrs old with perhaps some ring rust. So I wouldn't assume inactivity is always beneficial.

How can we assume he "walked away" when in the particular video he specifically stated he fights only once per year??? It was going to be either Mosley or Pac in 2010. He tried to make the fight with Pac happen but when things fell apart he gave the opportunity to Mosley which is a mega fight itself. I don't think he has a problem with fighting either Shane or Pac. He'll fight them; doesn't matter which order they come. If he had fought and defeated Pac earlier this year, people would be calling him a ducker for avoiding a bigger, stronger welterweight in Shane Mosley. Again, he'll fight either guy but not both in the same year. We'll just have to wait what he does next year. We should be grateful we received one mega fight from him. And before you throw stones at him, take a look at what Manny is doing. He hasn't exactly involved himself in the toughest of competition in recent times.
