In a fight MANY scored for McDermott. He's looked past it for a long time, and it was pretty much confirmed how past he was when he was floored twice by a journeyman in the Prizefighter tournament. Plus the fact that he himself admitted he was 'shot' before the Chisora fight (one in which he couldn't get his punches off and more evidence, if you needed it, that his punch resistance is gone).

    Danny is done.

I agree he struggled in prize fighter against a guy 8-3-0 and V Delboy ,imo there can be no justification in arranging for him to fight a serious young banger like Alex Leapai .

Yep. I started a thread on the Brit forum - you will only get similar responses on there to the ones you and myself have posted on this one. Nobody wants to see a warrior like Danny get seriously hurt, but against someone like Leapai it is a possibility.

Thats interesting......I have posted a few threads on the Brit forum about Alex v UK fighter and everybody says the Brits will kill him....not "thats an interesting fight' or "that would be close'....and we are talking guys with 12 - 2 (6) records....guys like Sexton and Rogan.

Why is it now all of a sudden that Alex is dangerous?

Yea i remember commenting on it a few weeks back when this fight was being lined up initially , what puzzles me is why Alex doesn't target the likes of Dallas , Fury or McDermott in his quest to lure Common Wealth Champ level guys into a showdown ? I hear him call out Chisora and Sexton but took his comments as tounge in cheek with his i will fight then both on the same night comment . if i were team Lionheart i wouldn't be looking past the likes of Owen Beck at this stage .

Well I'm sure there is going to be biased opinions in most of those posts, plus the fact that I doubt many Brits have even seen Leapai fight (maybe apart from the recent Walker fight) to make a balanced opinion of such match-ups.

But I think they can work this out:

Shot Danny Williams with no punch resistance + big puncher = Very bad combination.

Yep, they should be taking each step at a time - it almost backfired for Leapai in his last fight, so he shouldn't be overlooking fighters. I also agree with your point of challenging the likes of Dallas, Fury etc. Fury is a hot commodity right now, so I don't think they would be able to entice him with enough money to fight in Australia, but they would be able to get the likes of Dallas and McDermott over I feel.

I haven't heard anything to suggest if he can't fight in the UK.

should have been williams before beck.

Williams won't get hurt - if he takes three in a row ref will stop the fight anyway. :tong
