I agree about Watson, seeing him ease by and beat up those travelling half-decent Americans in '88 on BBC without giving or taking one full-blooded shot is interesting impressive viewing now - he was 22-23 as well and the likes of Don Lee and Ricky Stackhouse were very experienced against very good fighters.

He just amplified that form of his youth in the Eubank II fight but difference being gave and received countless full-blooded shots in a highly competitive, high-charged contest. Sharp and strong. Shame he had ring-rust against McCallum the weight down.

Yeah and he took a shellacking from a dangerman like McCallum, both men were knackered at the end but Mike just kept going.

Poor Mile, he was a beautiful technician with a sometimes impenetrable defence. The way he would catch punches on his arms/gloves was sublime. Gifted.

Ah what a great night that was. I was only a nipper. How could you not get into boxing after watching this. Epic.

I'm not sure if it'd still be available but someone released the entire original ITV broadcast on DVD a few years back and it was sold in HMV, Virgin and other shops...

I remember watching it at the time, and then again shortly before Benn-Eubank II.

The first four rounds or so in particular, where they just go a million miles an hour, are thrilling stuff.

    2. Love that music.
    3. They wore terrible suits back then.
    4. Funny to see a young cool Lewis next to Bruno.

Good fight, the needle, anticipation and build up to a fight between these two, was even better though.
