If Ken had beaten Ali, and regained the title, would he have rematched Foreman, and settle the score like Joe Louis did against Max Schmeling?

 

While there should have been no way Kenny would ever have made it past a few rounds with George the change in Foremans basic stance, footwork, and punches after Dick Sadler died makes this a ? Gil Clancey was a great boxing man but he simply had no idea how to teach George what would work right for him.

 

Norton was too tight for bout, he had habit of freezing up agaisnt big punchers. One thing he would have going for him in that situation was having seen Foreman lose to Ali, maybe that would boost his confidence. He had the talent to do it if head was right.

 

and again and again and again.

The guy didn't beat one formidable puncher in his career. Foreman iced him. Shavers iced him and Cooney iced him. Granted he was totally shot when Cooney kicked his ass.

Ken was terrific against boxers but his feet were rooted to the floor which made him easy pickings for bombers.

Possibly one of the oddest and least relevant comparisons I've ever seen.

Norton gets steamrolled again.

 

Foreman would still demolish Norton with ease.

 

Because Gil Clancy had George being a bit more cautious in his approach,he'd take a bit longer than the duration of their 1974 fight to beat Ken. Beat him him again he would though,within 5 rounds,this time.

 

I know all there is about The Brown Bomber. How is that at all relevant to Norton/Foreman?

 

George Foreman would have always been too much for Norton...it was a matter of style superiority as it was with Foreman and Frazier, Liston with Patterson, etc., Foreman would have repeated his Caracas triumph with ease.

 

No matter how slowly and cautiously Clancy would have had Foreman start out, as soon as he would have had Norton hurt, he would have been on him like a tiger.

 

I must assume you didn't even read the introduction to the thread:

a) Schmeling crushed Louis; Foreman crushed Norton

b) Louis gains title, Norton gains title

c) Schmeling is an ex-champ, Foreman is an ex-champ

d) Louis is a proud fighter, Norton is a proud fighter

Not hard to assume Norton might want to fight Foreman again to "settle the score".

 

He would've suffered the same fate as Joe Frazier.

Foreman is just wrong for them, stylistically.

 

Although I really liked Kenny. most likely would have been simular to Fraziers rematch with George. Last a few rounds more. but ultimatly the same result. Just a style thing. Foreman would always hammer those two...
