You only have to look at Lewis to see how he is rated after 10-15 years to realise how the Klitschko's will be rated. As ATG's and people who are spoken about as fighters who could have fought and beaten anyone on their night.
Agree on WALDO to some degree despite the awful competition, but VITLAY? No chance, he was already 31 when he fought Lewis I think, if that's all he's got to make his claim to fame then it's a **** poor argument for sure. VITLAY losing 4 years to injury doesn't really come into play, he was never a dominant champion whereas WALDO is becoming that, albeit in a crap division.
Apart from the guys that beat them in their prime you mean? Unavenged losses are one thing, but unavenged losses against bad competition is where both brothers fall over.
Beat them in their prime? Vitali never lost without it being due to an injury. The Lewis fight, he was ahead on the scorecard and history will show that Lewis despite offering a rematch, never took it on. Wladimir? So we're going to ignore the time period where he started training with Manny Steward and turned himself into a dominant two handed fighter who most importantly, is now relaxed in the ring and say that his prime was actually during the Brewster/Sanders fights where he looked out of sorts and nothing like the guy who is currently beating senseless any challenge at HW?
History will inevitably poo poo on the Klitschko's because they are boring to watch and have not connected with American audiences. Furthermore, they've had less than stellar competition for most of their careers. However, I believe they should ultimately be remembered as ATG heavyweights who cleaned out the division by disposing of any and all comers, even if it was a weak era. Vital's Top 5 fights: 1) Lennox Lewis: (6th round ref stoppage loss) Vitali was up on all 3 scorecards 58-56 and on his way to beating the undisputed Heavyweight Champion and ATG when a nasty cut forced the bout to stop. Lewis retired after, essentially refusing a well deserved rematch against Klitschko. 2) Corrie Sanders: (TKO8th) won WBC and Ring Magazine Heavyweight Title 3) Samuel Peter: (TKO9) won WBC Heavy Title 4) Chris Arreola: (TKO10) retained WBC Title vs undefeated, highly touted prospect 5) Kirk Johnson (TKO2) WBC Title Eliminator Wladimir: 1) Chris Byrd (UD and TKO7) Won WBO heavy title first time and IBF the 2nd time. 2) Samuel Peter (UD) Overcame 3 knockdowns to win IBF Title Eliminator. 3) Sultan Ibragimov (UD) IBF, WBO, and IBO Title Unification Match 4) Hasim Rahman (TKO7) defended titles 5) Eddie Chambers (KO12) defended titles against slick highly touted American I believe they are up there with Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, and Mike Tyson, although prime for prime... I give the nod to these 3.
Oh for ****s sake just **** off with that **** I could list a dozen fighters that only ever lost while on their feet but they were still beaten, VITLAY is nothing new, stop hugging his balls. Hell Lewis himself only ever lost to 'injuries'.....injuries caused by men punching him in the face, same reason VITLAY lost.
Being up on the scorecard to the degree of no possible way of losing against Chris Byrd, tearing your rotator cuff and it progressively getting worse until you have to retire = injury Having half your face torn off while wanting to continue in a fight you're ahead in = injury Getting starched cold = not an injury Surely you're not stupid enough to not see the difference in this?
As good fighters who dominated their division for a long time.It will be noted that it was a weak division but it will also be noted that they lead the surge of Euro fighters into the division and were the start of a change in heavyweight boxing. They have pretty much beaten all who have been put in front of them and you cant ask more than that,I think history will be good to them.
In case Vitali wont lose until he retires history will rate him higher than Wlad because of his Sanders and Peter wins.
Vitali - decent fighter, missed the "passing of the guard" by being stopped by Lewis, boring, quitter, no notable wins. Wlad - good fighter, terribly boring, cautious, jab/hugger, glass jaw, laid out cold by journeymen, no notable wins.
History, like most boxing fans, will not view them at all. Nobody gives a **** about the Klic, Klit.., whatever the **** their names are, except for maybe 2 guys in Germany. I love how people say that whatsisname was ahead on the cards against Lewis. FACT - HE LOST. The other day I was playing one on one, I scored 23 baskets, and the other guy scored 0. I was playing against my 5 year old son.............
