Floyd never avoided either of those two fighters. Cotto was pulled out of the contract because Bob Arum didn't believe Cotto was ready, and Floyd didn't sign to fight Margarito because there was a clause in the contract that Floyd would come back to Top Rank.

 

he was not saying the 140 green version of cotto. it was when cotto was already at welter and just defeated mosley. floyd retired rather than facing cotto in the biggest fight at welter back in 2008.

 

Wanted to see the fight. Didn't care who won, though of course I'd be rooting for Pac. Its just an important fight that needs to happen and would say without a shadow of a doubt who the best really was.

And yes, the majority of people think Floyd did duck Pac. The way they went about to deny negotiations even occurred is mind boggling. They could have used Roger's situation as an out and it would have been justifiable. Team Mayweather dropped the ball on this one.

Laughable. You completely ignored Clottey. Oh and let's forget the fact that Margarito without his loaded gloves is actually a slow, mediocre fighter at best. I'll give you Cotto but only if you credit Floyd's win against Mosley.

Let's compare Pac's and Floyd's last two opponents since we're judging them by their recent choices in opposition. JMM and Mosley are still in the top 10 P4P list. Clottey and Cotto are not. And Margarito? The only top ten list he can make at this point is Arum's favorite pets list.

 

Because Pacquiao doesn't need Floyd and vice versa. Either fighter can surpass the other by defeating other fighters. Imagine if Pac beat Paul Williams. Wouldn't that make Floyd look completely ridiculous?

 

no they don't need each other legacy wise but they could be much greater. it would look good that they beat these very good big fighters but in the end fighting each other will mean much more. imagine if they have a close fight that was a classic. that would make them immortalized by the boxing gods. they had beaten much much bigger fighters before but they have not fought an ATG with their respective current statures. this one is big.

 

I'm not saying we shouldn't be disappointed the fight didn't happen. Just sayin that there are bright sides to the situation. With Mayweather taking time off it would create ring rust and gives Pac a chance to outshine him. I'm giving Pac fans something to cheer about instead of having to constantly complain that they didn't get what they wanted. It's been going on so much that I'm starting to think it's not about Mayweather but rather about channeling their frustration in an attempt to remedy their sad, problematic lives.

 

Had Pacquiao done the same exact thing Floyd did it would be the same thing. I, as a Pac fan, would probably take a vacation from ESB from the embarrasment.

It's so pathetic some Floyd fans would still defend him when in fact if the roles were reversed they'd laugh at Pac and his fans for the obvious duck.

 

But that's the ****ing problem right there....we want Pac to kick his ass now. Because if he does it later then *****s will have that excuse that Floyd is somehow "old". We don't want excuses, we want a ****ing fight! And yes everyone w/ a working brain KNOWS Floyd ducked Pac...so automatically, that excludes all the *****s.

 

TBH the impressions i got is that neither fighter wanted the fight, Mayweather said he wanted more time off and team pacquaio seemed to be lining up different opponents the whole time

 

Pacquiao ducked a fight earlier in the year to fight Clottey, I'm not sure why people overlook this.

If he had accepted the terms back in January that he was more than happy with later in the year we would have had the fight already.

They are both as bad as each other and their ego's have caused this fight to fall through twice.

 

its my general opinion that may has ducked pacquiao... however, its my opinion also that boxings now loosing out massively thanks to this. its another nail in the coffin. imagine the superbowl final coulodnt go ahead ecause 2 teams couldnt come to terms... wtf, its pathetic

Nope. Pac refused Mayweather's "special conditions" in the first negotiations.

No such thing involved during the 2nd round of negotiations other than Floyd would rather still be on vacation 6 months after his easy fight with Shane Mosley rather than fight Manny Pacquiao who has met Floyd's demands.
