http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=150&cat=boxer The most accurate weights are on boxrec: Holmes was 223lbs for the Spinks rematch. 225¾lbs for Tyson. But I was impressed with how well he did against peak Holyfield and Mercer at 233lbs in '92.
By the 1990s, Holmes was in his 40s and his metabolism had changed. 232 to 236 was a good range for him and it allowed him to be strong...... Had Holmes gotten down to under 227 or so at that age, he'd been weak as hell........ Now I hated Holmes at 250 to 255 like he was at the end there against "Smith, Weaver and Butterbean." MR.BILL:hat
Okay, perhaps Holmes officially weighed 223 for the Spinks rematch of '86, but like I said, I recall Merchant saying Holmes was wearing pants and shoes upon getting on the scale, etc.... I think Merchant then estimated that Holmes naked would be closer to 219....... Either way, Holmes was in much better shape for fight # 2.... MRBILL:bbbhat
Interesting info on Holmes wearing clothing for the rematch weigh-in, thanks. I agree entirely, Holmes was definitely better physically & strategically prepared for the rematch.
