Looks like he eats green berets for Breakfast and hits like a freight train. Why in god's name would GBP subject one of their stars to a guy like that.
that right hand was like a club to the face, no wonder he got starched the way he did. people are gonna accuse jacobs of having a glass jaw now.
Because GBP is not Top Rank. For the most part they dont let their prospects hide under their skirts for the most of their career.
the only thing that annoyed me tonight was the announcers comparing jacobs to amir khan trying to say like he will come back from this loss, I doubt it I just don't see him competing on the high levels just yet.
I'm looking at Pirog's boxrec and he seems to have been toppling fairly respectable opposition despite being very inexperienced. His last 5-6 opponents have practically all had records in the region of 20-4 or better. Terrible job done by GBP.
Good point. I am very surprised with the result. I would like to say Jacobs wasn't himself & was a distracted fighter but wont. Pirog looked great i have been rooting for Jacobs on fnf for a while now. Maybe next time. :good
Pirog is clearly a hell of a lot better than Prescott. This guy actually showed a bit of class in the early goings, and although he looks awkward, I was impressed with his head movement and his punch variety. The shot that ended things was a peach, and he seemed to know right after it landed that Jacob was all but done. This was no lucky punch.
Exactly, and fighters like this are what Jacobs should be facing. You can't have it your own way, the only issue is that they don't bridge the gap between the difficulty, you see it in British Boxing all the time. Fighters are thrown in with the Lebanese, Polish, Belarus and all the woeful journeymen, then might fight them some British Journeymen, some who can't even get past that, and then they throw them in with unknown quantities. A lot of promoters don't know how to successfully keep a fighter growing in skill and belief without throwing him in way too deep, it happens all the time, that's why Mexico and to a lesser extent, Japan have some really world class fighters. From what I've heard, they give them tougher fights in the beginning, they put them in with not the best, but a really great fighter to see what they can do. That's why you see fighters like Margarito and whatnot having a few puzzling losses very very early in their career, it's just a smarter tactic than giving them fish food for 10 fights then throwing them in with a Briedis Prescott or a Pirog. It's very dangerous, and sometimes bad for their confidence and mental makeup, some never recover, that's why prospects come and go so much and many don't evolve into anything, they're not moulded correctly.
What are you talking about? Are you saying kahn has made a comback?? No he has not sir, because he has not faced anyone to test his chin since it got crushed by a journeyman....Pauli has like 5 KO's and salita?? please
