i gave jacobs first, pirog second, jacobs third, pirog fourth but I can see how the judges had it for jacobs as he was outlanding pirog even though pirog had the more clean effective punching, you got to remember there were a lot of new judges tonight on title fights.
Yep, that was the 5th round. The thread you started is talking about the first four rounds. Danny Jacobs getting KTFO doesn't bother me. I had no rooting interest for either fight I was just hoping for a good fight, and it was. Back to my point, and the point of this thread to say that Pirog was giving Jacobs a boxing lesson or a beatdown for the first four rounds is ridiculous. Just like it would be ridiculous to say Jacobs was beating up Pirog for the first four rounds.
Pirog won one round. As stupid as Jacobs fought, if Pirog was any good, he'd have won every round. Jacobs was just awful, but he was still winning rounds.
Mike Ayala won 15 rounds and got knocked the hell out in the final seconds by Little Red !!! Its how you end the fight is what Jacobs needs to learn!!!
Excuse me!!! But Red knocked that punk out TWICE in one fight:yep On a serious note, I did tenatively pick Jacobs, but I also said it was a hesitant pick because I had only seen Pirog on You Tube. In the past I've been pretty consistent in saying that I felt like Jacobs was missing some things. He's not a smart fighter (saw that tonight,) he can't handle pressure (saw that in the Walker fight,) and his chin is questionable (saw that in the Smith fight.)
It was either 2-2 or 3-1 Jacobs, any other score is dumb. Jacobs clearly lost round 2 but I felt in 1, 3, and 4 he did his thing. I am pissed I bet on him. All I could think of after round 2 was "Pirog is gonna stalk this dude down till he's gone."
I had it 2-2 after four but was very confident at that point Pirog would win. The 3-1 score is no big deal.
Unless you score punches to the glove Jacobs did not win the 1st and Pirog won the 2nd easily after that Jacobs won rounds 3 and 4 via workrate whilst Pirog waited a little to long to land the hard punches, Pirog was back in control in the 5th after upping his workrate and found the perfect punch. Very exciting fight.
Exactly. All this niggling over a couple of close rounds just distracts from the fact that Pirog clearly proved himself the better man in the end.
Scoff if you must, but did you see that stupid pose Jacobs struck during the ref's instructions? I suspected problems right then and there. He looked nervous, and lacking in confidence.
Yep. As much as we give him a hard time, Steward was all over it, too. It was obvious Jacobs was being pushed faster than he wanted to go, while Pirog was totally relaxed, and the result followed. It wasn't nearly as competitive as the score. Pirog would have beaten Jacobs 9 times out of 10 tonight.
Yeah, I saw it. My comment was, "I hope this kid is ready to fight." But I don't think he was way off in the ring, either; he simply ran into a better guy.
