He said he was, but what do we make of these statements from his most recent interview?

I’m very proud to have the same title that Muhammad Ali had many years ago. I will try to keep this title as long as possible. About the breaks…I had a long line of injuries, but the break for three years made me better, and now I have a lot of power and show good results. That’s why I’ve been so active these last two years. I feel great. I feel like I’m twenty years old! Sometimes I forget I’m almost forty years old! (laughs)

Sure don't seem like the man is hanging it up any time soon to me?

    Chef? Where are you at?

I hope so. He's kind of cockblocking Wladimir by sticking around.

His level of opposition is getting worse. The end is near.

The plan was to beat David Haye and retire, but since David Haye is afraid I dont think he wants to retire by beating Shannon Briggs. Most likely he will fight 1 more year.

I sure hope so. He's not doing himself any favors by staying around longer.

Nor his brother, the better boxer and the one who's earned the distinction of being #1 (without having to share it).

On that note, I hear Jake LaMotta is fighting Methuselah early next year for the IBA Super Middleweight title. Cross your fingers, boys. The raging bull is going for two-division history...:hey

If he had a 4 year rest, feels good, and is dominating, or knocking out, everyone he fights, and if he wants to stay at it a while longer...............fight on, big man......

But I think the statement about one more year was assuming Haye would be willing to unify his title with one of the K brothers. Since he is not, yet, anyway, I think Vitali wants to stay in the game a while longer, in case he (Vitali) is the one Haye is finally willing to fight.

Just my take on it, but if Vitali is still doing was well as he is, and enjoys it, and is not getting even slightly hurt or outboxed, let the man continue on and keep making money at the craft he loves. He's still head and shoulders above everyone else, even at 39.
