You can never tell. He seems to have taken it in stride. He didn't listen to his corner...sometimes that's the worst flaw of all.
Another Jaidon Cordington. Look back how Jacobs struggled with Walker and Smith. Those were the only times he ever stepped up and both time had he not been significantly bigger than those guys he might've lost the fights. Either GBP overlooked Pirog's ability-(he's dominated some tough fighters), much like Oscar overlooked Sturm, or they gave him the Francisco Bojado treatment of sink or swim. When GBP get sour on a prospect, they decide to cut their losses of not having to invest anymore and start rushing a prospect to get some return on them. If the prospect goes bust, there's plenty more at that level to choose from. The golden child is done. He's got a LHW frame at MW with the chin and power of a WW.
I agree with alot of this. We have to see how the KO affects him. And I agree about when he steps up. He needs to fight some lesser comp anmd rebuild confidence and fix whatever is wrong
At times, Danny still fights like an amateur. Did you see how many times last night he just appeared to be attempting to touch Pirog. And when he did, we was leaving his hands down as he backed away. He rarely sits down on his punches, as well. Definitely has a lot of potential. We'll see what he can learn from this. I agree it's time to avoid the big boys for a little while. Rebuild his confidence with a few wins, work on his flaws.
Jacobs was also backing straight up.He has a lot of work to do.:deal I noticed that when Pirog gets hit flush...he freezes for a second...lurched foreward, with his hands down.. If happened a couple times last night....but that can be fixed.
YOU can't be taught take a shot. That said he clearly underestimated Pirog and it bit him in the ass similar to what happened to Ortiz. (The post fight even reminded me somewhat of Victor) IMO, The look in Jacobs eyes said, experiment over.
Guy's got legs like tooth pics. I suspected from that alone that he might not have a sturdy foundation. There was something eerie about his post fight interview. He seemed almost relieved to lose. Like he wanted or expected that to happen. I get a sense his heart isn't deeply entrenched in the game. And talent alone, in most cases, will not get you to the top. You need to crave it. He doesn't.
Amir khan came back from a defeat that was much worse than Jacobs so why cant jacobs do it.If his legs are skinny maybe he should just do less weights on his upper body and work on strenghtening his legs.I dont think his chin is that bad in the first place that right hand that landed right on his chin could have leveled anyone it was that powerful.Jacobs can come back and be a better fighter imo.
