How can anyone rate Mayweather's win over Marquez?

Floyd's sham win over Marquez is only now coming into light. HBO's Greenburg pulled the lid off Floyd's marketing-savvy ways, and Floyd is blaming Haymon for it.

It's about time these shenanigans are exposed.

The fact that people continue to disregard is that neither fighter is a power punching pressure fighter. Both rely on skillset, technique and the ability to counter punch - not the come forward aggressive style that requires size.

Taking that into account, Floyd really didn't use his size as a weapon against Marquez, he simply beat him to the punch time and time again.

People wanting to say that Marquez had lost all his speed are simply over-stating that small weight gain.

It was a Very good win.
The weight issue is a factor in the result, but not a decivice factor.

    Bollocks.

If anything, the reach advantage carried by Floyd was the only factor related to size, but considering Marquez still threw as many punches as he did and didn't really hit Floyd, why people don't consider that a massive performance is beyond me - Marquez even in the Diaz fight showed he can pick apart a target all night.

Uhh, you don't have to pressure somebody to exactly use your size. When a guy that outweighs you by 15 pds hits you...Your gonna fill the extra 15 pds! When you hit the guy who weighs 15 pds more...He doesn't hurt as much!
Are you kidding? You don't have to fight like Margarito to impose your will. Besides, it'd be different if it were ONLY 15 natural pounds. You got a guy who's a 130 pounder who FATTENED up to 142...Which made him slower, not in as good of shape, he's OLDER since Pac also, etc. Then you got a guy like Mayweather who usually weighs around 155-160 that's trimming down to the best shape of his life...

Of course it matters. That's why there's weight divisions. Honestly I don't even care, but the only thing that gets on my nerves is the irony of Floyd fans making it a huge deal Pac takes catchweight fights (when he only fought one, and I'm assuming Margo will be one as well) whenever you got Floyd making Jmm come up two weight divisions, and Hatton who had to move up 1 whole weight division. Even if it is catchweight with marg Pac would have.....
Made DLH move down 1 division while he MOVED UP himself
Made Cotto drop 1 pd from his previous weighin
Made Margarito fight around 150 whenever Margarito fought 147 a lot of his career anyways.

I hardly call that having much of an advantage due to weight.

HBO didn't weight Marquez nor Mayweather so how does Marquez know he weighed 15lbs more?

Mayweather won because he's the better boxer. The weight issue was not why he won. Mayweather dose have a reach advantage over Marquez. Reach is always an important factor in boxing, but Mayweather has long arms for his height and almost always has a reach advantage.
If A) The weight was a good weight for Marquez or B) They fought at 140. A weight that would have better suited Marquez. Since it would have been easier for him to come up than for Mayweather to drop down.
The result of the fight would not have been different. At best Marquez might have won two more rounds. That means in the best case scenario from Marquez's perspective. Instead of 12-0, 11-1 and 10-2 score cards. The results may have been 10-2, 9-3 and 8-4. That is still an impressive win on Mayweather's part.

That's all I'm saying. It was a skill fight, not a will/power fight. No fighter really ever dominated their opposition with power shots, just speed and accuracy.

Floyd being one of the fastest fighters ever, why people want to disregard this and blame size is beyond me.

You cats acna discredit Floyd's win all you like but the truth is simple. If it was just a matter of weight JMM would have had his moments in the fight, he would have won a round here or there before the size made the outcome swing to Floyds favor. But JMM was dominated, it was about more then weight, it was because Floyd was/is a better fighter.

With that being said it has no wieght on the outcome of a fight between floyd and pac (which will never happen).

I agree with you, but someone needs to remind Jim Lamply and the HBO crew.

    should have added "tune up"

  15. The extra weight made him slower. Floyd is already naturally faster at any weight than Marquez is. Marquez had no chance. Plus, he was too small to hurt Mayweather as Mayweather outweighed him by at least 10 pounds.
