Floyd is the best fighter in the sport period!!!!! Almost every guy he has faced has looked much better in there next fight. That's because Floyd makes them all look like amatuers.

LOL at the poll results with people voting great win, very good win or good win. What a joke.

Mayweather and Pacman are too good for Marquez. Marquez has been marketed well and fought guys at the right time, yet he never beat many of them and lost to Chris John and easily to Mayweather.

  5. He's been marketed well? Is that some kind of joke? Years of his talent were wasted because of the way he was marketed and managed. If you think Pacquiao is too good for Marquez, I guess u didnt see their two fights. Those fights were extremely competitive.

I wouldn't say its a very meaninful win but he did look very good doing it. Comming off that layoff he looked very sharp.

The fact is there was no way in hell JMM could beat Floyd unless Floyd was total dog****.

Mayweather himself moved up 5 weight classes, most of the all time greats did it. This was a very good win for Floyd. JMM, would have beat most WW that night.

If Floyd had honored the catchweight I would have given him some credit for it, only because it was his first fight back. Coming in over and refusing to try to lose the weight turned the fight into a farce and made that win null and void imo. It's a nothing win. The fight was a disgrace because of Mayweather's actions and shows what depths Mayweather is willing to sink to in order to protect his zero, even against a lightweight who really had no shot at beating him.

Floyd's win was decent at best. Although it was against a lightweight, it was a superb techincal fighter against another techincal fighter which smarts play into more than size. He was also coming off a long layoff. It was decent at best, nothing to brag about for Floyd though.

The way he dominated a smaller ATG was impressive after 2 years, in terms of size difference, its similar to Monzon facing ex-lightweight Napoles or Hagler facing Duran. Mayweather comes from 130lbs himself and is known not to weight drain so lets not pretend he's a huge WW. HEll Pacquaio weighed 146lbs in the ring for the second Marquez fight

It wasn't the size that won that fight, its the fact a counter punching boxer is never going to be able to counter or outbox Mayweather. Maybe if Marquez was the same size he could have pressured Mayweather, forced a fight, but thats going to leave countering for Floyd.

You wouldn't have seen much of a different fight if it was at 130lbs

I voted decent win by accident. If Mayweather would have went on to face Pacquiao in his next bout, I probably would have voted for decent win...because people will have seen it as a tune-up, etc.
But there was not much value in the win...apart from Marquez's name. Although Mayweather was coming off a two year lay off...in that sense the win was valuable for everyone to see whether that lay off effected him at all. But saying that, if Mayweather was in with a Welterweight that night...we could have gotten the same results.

I remember at the time saying Mayweather's team must have made it clear to other promoters that he was making a comeback because the first we knew was when he was announcing the bout. Marquez has been chasing Pacquiao since their last bout, of course he was going to jump at the opportunity to try to put himself in position for a possible rematch with Pacquiao...especially with a win over Mayweather. But surely other boxers must have known Mayweather was coming back...Marquez can't have been the only one to call him out?
