He did throw a jab that Pirog took advantage of by throwing his own right hand OVER. Go and watch the KO-replay again, please... atsch
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyzX6WhJ-f4[/ame] 0:21 5Burowz, he backs off to the ropes, bounces off the ropes, throws a sloppy jab followed by something that would resemble a right hand, got clocked over his SLOPPY jab and got put to sleep. I didn't want to call you out on that one, you made me.. now would you kindly **** off and eat your **** sandwich?
According to HBO Jacobs landed 43% of his power shots on that slickster. but i agree that was not a tremendous punch that had ko´d anyone. Jacobs definitively has some chin issue. He´ll have to improve his defense a lot or that wont be the last ko he suffered for long.
he's obviously a talented kid but golden boy have handled him badly. he's had nothing but soft touches, he's not been hardened in anyway whatsoever then out of nowhere they throw him in the deep end. maybe they totally underestimated pirog, maybe not. either way it was terrible matchmaking. it's straight from the frank warren textbook.
jacobs was (and has) exhibiting some very fundamental flaws. but he is 23 years old. its not like this was a crossroads of the kids career like the 26 year old fighting later that night. jacobs was asking to have his lights turned out backing up to the ropes in a straight line and not keeping his hands up. pirog was better than advertised and jacobs was not...at least not yet. if you are just gonna flick a jab out there like jacobs was doing you better be moving laterally and not straight back. for all his talent, jacobs will wind up on his back looking up multiple times a la jermain taylor if he keeps that up.
thats bull****, compubox scores any punch which isnt a jab as a power punch, so it probably scored jacobs' pitter patter right and arm punches as power punches.
you should watch the fight instead of going by the punch stats watch the fight and then come back and tell me who got hit more and who got their ass torn apart.:deal
When are people going to learn that compubox is a crock of ****... Jacobs probably didn't land 25% in the whole fight, even if you count his shoeshine bull****. Hell, even Pirog didn't land at 43%, even though he was less busy and much more accurate than Jacobs. It's like the Froch fans trying to justify his "win" over Dirrell by bringing up the computerized punch stats. They're always total garbage and don't even remotely reflect reality.
Jacobs is obviously very fast and the stats prove that, his problem was his inability to disuade Pirog, once Pirog knew Jacobs couldnt hurt him the bout was effectivly over. In the first two rounds Pirog covered up nicely and was picking his shots well and bullied Jacobs in the latter of those two rounds, Jacobs then proceeded to win the next two rounds as Pirog got a little lazy trying to find the perfect opening knowing he couldnt be hurt. In the fifth Pirog stepped up the pace and the pressure and BOOM Jacobs couldnt handle it. Long story short Pirog wasnt afraid to get hit to land his own.:good
I have watched the fight and Jacobs connected just had no effect. Most had it 3-1 Jacobs or 2-2 it was not that Jacobs got outclassed before he got KFTO. Just saying Priogs movements and defense is by far not that effective like some on here seem to think punchstats in and out..
People aren't saying it was a total blowout before the KO, because it wasn't. Jacobs was boxing pretty well except in the 2nd round. But he didn't connect on 43% of his power shots. Not even close.
I agree though I dont think he would have got hit much less if he had tried to avoid it. If Jacobs had the power to hurt him i´m quite sure he would have won.
