Well i think its clear when a lightweight that baloons up two weight division's is gonna be the underdog espically when hes never fought there before but when your fighting a fighter who hasn't lost in around 6 outings at that weight and is the supposed best fighter in the world. Even when you forget about the result it was a meaningless and stupid mismatch.

Floyd boys are good at using Floyds almost 2 years hibernation to justify his fight with bloated marquez but wont acknowledge Mosleys ring rust, more than a year of inactivity, for Mosleys poor showing.

Other than getting Floyd's confidence back up following the layoff, it is 100% meaningless. It does not enhance his legacy in the least, and this is coming from a massive Marquez fan.

That was not the real Juan Manuel Marquez in the ring with him.

The real Juan Manuel Marquez exists at least two divisions below where Floyd Mayweather Jr. operates.

Again - it was great for a confidence builder, and may have helped his swagger heading into the Mosley bout...but beyond that it was a sparring session and a bit of an embarrassment for everyone involved.

This was a BS tune up against a solid boxer with the ability to brawl if needed. Also he had an interesting name to add spice to the Pac potential match up. It was a decent win, but nothing that was going to shake the history books are mean much as far as legacy.

This was an interesting fight. I don't think it does much for Mayweather's legacy. However, it really helped out his bank account and I believe it's a useful fight when analyzing a potential fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao. Marquez is an orthodox counterpuncher with a good straight right and a good left hook. That style gave Pacquiao a lot of problems.

In the Mayweather/Marquez fight, although Mayweather was bigger, we could clearly see that he's the better boxer than Marquez as well. He's smarter than Marquez, quicker, more accurate, a better counterpuncher, better defensively, and he has a better straight right and left hook. So if Marquez's style gave Pac fits, and Mayweather employs a similar style but is clearly superior to Marquez, then what does that tell you about a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao? Now of course Marquez is much more aggresive than Mayweather. That could prove to be a detriment to Mayweather or it could work in his favor.

Marquez is not as aggressive as you believe him to be:

The difference is that neither Hatton nor De La Hoya gave Mayweather fits, and anyone who says they did is guilty of both fanaticism and revisionism.

That really didn't have anything to do with the point he was making, actually.
