That straight right hand looked fast and powerful and PW is a southpaw. Anyone know what the best punch is against a southpaw?? Exactly. It would be like Martinez-Williams. Except Pirog is a pretty big guy himself. Not to mention his chin looked great and Williams isnt exactly a power puncher.
Most people on ESB have seen a total of 5 rounds from Pirog. And yet, they're swinging off this guys nut sack like a bunch of monkeys in a coconut tree. The kid has talent, but he needs at least 4-5 fights against stiff opposition before he faces a top guy. Beating Danny Jacobs is a very long way from beating Williams, Martinez, Pavlik, or even Sturm.
I agree partially, but still. In the 5 rounds of the Jacobs fight Pirog showed skill, and he definitely has good pop. Paul Williams has a terrible defense. Thats just a fact. EVERYBODY hits him, and hits him alot. Pirog would be the heaviest puncher he's faced. Furthermore... Paul Williams is gonna have a short shelf life, just like your hero. That high volume style he has wont be effective once he gets older.

true, but I think Pav has a good shot at beating Williams. I love watching Williams fight but he is just too easy to hit, his volume gives everyone trouble but I don't think he is as good as many make him out to be. At WW I'm not sure if anyone beats him but as he moves up he loses a bit of his reach advantage which makes him vaunerable
Pirog will land plenty on Williams, I think he has the movement to get inside on him. However I have great faith in William's whiskers, so I couldn't see a stoppage happening. After that Williams will be outworking Pirog and landing plenty of shots to the few solid shots that Pirog would be basing his rounds on. Probably a close Williams decision for me. But it's a fight I'd really like to see. Can't understand the attitude of some people who don't seem to believe Pirog deserves to share the ring with other champions yet. He's been waiting for this breakout fight for a while now, and now he's got a title. Hope GBP have options on him and we get to see him in more fights stateside.

Some of us have seen a lot more than five rounds of his, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that someone with his kind of upper body movement and no major height disadvantage would give Tall Paul all kinds of problems.
