Monzon would start out favourite against any Middleweight in history. No 'razzamatazz' with Carlos but i see him as an immovable object for Robinson .. Carlos had a great jab, great chin and great fundamentals ..

I might take Hagler over Robinson too but wouldnt be as confident ..

Foster and Jones arent Middleweights for me

Hopkins is vastly over-rated imo, his 160 era was one of the worst in history, and he still 'won ugly' against second rate guys .. Fighting Robert Allen 4 times, Antwun Echols twice and guys like Mercado and Daniels doesnt do it for me .. Hopkins was a very good, savvy fighter but i wouldnt put him in the same conversation as Monzon, Hagler, Robinson, Cerdan, Walker, Ketchel and Greb ..

I think Cerdan and Greb could beat Robinson, but like Hagler not sure they'd start out as favourite ..

The only guy that starts as a catagorical 'favourite' against Robinson at 160 is Carlos Monzon

I dont know if anyone is favourite going into the fight but i think Jones Jr ,Hagler and Monzon have the best chance of beating him. I think ouut of the three the bookies would give Monzon the best odds for a win but i would favour the other two in the ring with SRR.

Favored? Ketchel, Hagler, maybe Fitz, maybe Monzon. While I expect that Greb would beat him, I don't know that the odds makers would stand behind Harry.

Monzon, of course..with his style, height, reach, etc., he'd be poison for SRR..and would be a decision winner, IMO..no one, no middleweight ever STOPS Robinson, by the way.

Maybe Greb..and as great a middle champ as he was, not Hagler and no way Hopkins beats Sugar..Tiger would be too monolithic and would lose on points..Emile Griffith would vex Robinson to a degree, but would come up short ultimately..and you know that Ray would have detonated a bomb on Roy Jone's chin and would have ko'ed him before 13.

Monzon didn't have good fundamentals; infact, he was fairly poor, technically, for a champion of such acclaim. What he had was an enviable set of talents. As strong, powerful, durable and endurable as Dick Tiger, except on a lean six foot frame - the advantages are obvious. And although he was sloppy and wild at times, Monzon was able to overcompensate and compliment his physical gifts with an innate understanding of how to fight. Distance, timing, pacing, and perhaps psychological warfare as well.

Robinson wouldn't cope too well. While Monzon never faced a middleweight as versatile, he himself was tiers above just another short armed slugger.

No one else think the Duran that arguably beat Hagler could take a split dec?

While I see Robinson as untouchable at welter he was beaten enough times at middleweight not to be considered as top dog at that weight.

I'd say that Robinson is stylistically all wrong for Duran above WW. Rangy, fast, powerful with excellent movement, chin, technique and tactical ability. What did Duran ever do at MW to show he could cope with this combination? I think Roberto would do well to last the distance and nab one or two rounds really.

Monzon, Hagler and Hopkins would all have good chances. Can't see why anyone makes any guesses about Greb, since no one here have seen him fight.
