I was comparing the two in terms of style in the ring, not quality.

Bivins was only at the top due to a talent drained world war two time line. I am not super impressed with him on film. He did fight everyone and have a long career, but he also lost to 17 or more different opponents, some of which were not even as good as Chambers was.

If Bivins was at heavyweight today, his small stature, and pitty pat style would get his clock cleaned by the top level guys. Chambers to me has faster hands, and more power, an likely took a better punch.

Tubbs is a LOT better than Chambers.

I don't see any version of Eddie Chambers giving a young Riddick Bowe all he can handle, nothing even close. Hell, Tony Tubbs won the first round against a peak Tyson. That in itself is better than anything Chambers has achieved.

Tubbs is one of the most underachieving heavyweights of all time, imo.

But yeah, to the thread topic I'd say Chambers and Byrd would be the closest to each other with regards to talent. Chambers has the natural size and power edge over Byrd but Byrd's trickier.

Tubbs has a beautiful, long. rapier like jab. Chambers does not have that in the arsenal.

    :good

I dont actually buy the "fluke" story. Quarry was clearly shook, he got up then dropped down to a knee to complete the count. To get it all wrong like he did, his brain must have been a bit scrambled.
i mean, maybe he misjudged, but what was he doing on the deck anyway ?
And it wasn't a one-sided fight in Jerry's favour up 'til then either. quarry may have been winning but Chuvalo was battling him, and Quarry never looked comfortable with Chuvalo's strength.

It should at least be remembered as a good win for Chuvalo.

i think chambers has shown a pretty solid jab to be honest. not legendary but very effective against povetkin and peter at times

It was a good performance, sure. But hardly a definitive win, just one of those things in boxing.

Reminds me of Walcott/Marciano honestly. For whatever reason the fight was cut short and it's just not as valid as a single punch, clean knockout that the first fight produced.
