Would anyone on here excuse him for taking a tune up fight? IMO he should only take on the best out there, if he was a belt holder he would have the excuse that he had to fight mandatories, but as he isnt he does not have that excuse. inactivity is self inflicted so i dont see that being an adequate reason for a tuneup fight either. i mean if say his next opponent is either williams pac or martinez, i assume most people would be contneted. but if it was someone like say clottey, i wouldnt accept that as a worthwhile fight. for someone in semi retirement with no madatory defences, there is no reason to not fight the best out there. thoughts?
but that is where boxing gets **** "floyd wouldnt fight me so ill fight a cheating bum who got kayoed by mosley" "pac is fighting margo, so i can fight matthew hatton" these are supposed to be the best two our sport has to offer, if they arent gonna fight each other, atleast take on worthwhile opponents. pac fighting marg has fuk all to do with floyds next fight, and certainly aint an excuse for him to fight a bum.
Yea, that's what I mean. Floyd doesn't have to exactly take the hardest fights. Look at what he's competition is bringing to the table, pac-marg. Fighting nearly anyone would be a better opponent than marg. Each time emmanuel's camp walks away from negotiations with Floyd they dig themselves into a deeper hole.
of course he has to. he gets enough **** for not responding to arums public call out. he can only restore his reputation in 2 ways. 1) actually fight pacman 2) beat all the best out there whilst pushing for a fight with pacman. just because pacman is fighting wank opposition dont mean floyd should stoop to that level.
Im really getting sick of Mayweather's bull****. All of this **** saying he wants to be like the Superbowl by fighting only once a year is ridiculous. Boxing dosent work like that.
This is why Floyd cannot be an ATG. He shouldn't aspire for that, and just be content with his millions.
Boxing is as much a business as it is a competitive sport. You don't think a Matthew Hatton fight in England would not be both interesting, good for the sport, and good for English fans? Same goes for the Margo fight in Mexico (had he not been caught cheating). It would be great for the Mexican fans who might not otherwise get to Vegas or Texas. Sometimes it is just nice to get fighters exposure so that fans can actually absorb the live event. Now when you mix that in with fighting less than once or twice a year there is an issue, but it isn't the fights.
if floyd was fighting three times a year, then yes have tune up or stay busy fights, but when he fights once a year, it really must be against the best out there. fighting matthew hatton is not interesting, at all.
so considering pacs next fight is at 150 vs margo, does that mean floyd should fight at 150 vs margo? using pac as an excuse dont cut it.
No **** a tune up fight! I will not excuse him for a bull**** fight. He needs to fight Pacquiao or the likes of Pwill, Cotto,Martinez,or Berto!!!!!
Floyd may have said that but i know of another Fighter who is showing us he rather fight for money than legacy.:good
I can agree with you. So it is really a volume issue not those opponents. Those opponents are great for the fans. Being honest, both fights let the fighter showcase what he does best against a limited opponent. In Manchester? Come on man... :huh
