Tysons instincts were still in tact and its pretty clear from those clips. Gone was the upper body movement and defense but he was still a very good counterpuncher, something that never came back post prison. Ruddock got the worse of those two fights, but he was determined as hell.

It's Tyson's best win. And it was his toughest win to get in his prime. Not a coincidence. Ruddock simply offered a great challenge regardless, even if he fought stupid and didn't jab or out-fight enough.

yeah a lot was taken from both after the second ruddock apparently had a broken jaw and tyson a perforated ear drum but just shows people up who said tyson didnt have a good chin especially after what ruddock did to dokes

I dont know how anyone could say Tyson didnt have a great chin? If you watched him in his prime, he walked through some solid shots from big punchers. With his style he was going to get hit no matter how tight his defense was.
Buster Douglas basically had to punch him into the canvas to get him off his feet.

All of the Evander Holyfield vs Riddick Bowe fights where more brutal by far, but still Mike Tyson vs Razor Rudduck I & II where good fights.

Razor Ruddock could of done better against Mike Tyson if he used his jab, and learnt how to throw straight punches.

He fought Mike Tyson like a complete ******.

Funny thing was, if Mike Tyson did'nt look for his gumsheild....he would of made the count against Buster Douglas..!!!!

I also agree that in the second fight, Mike Tyson looked abit flat. Maybe he was to eager to smash Razor Ruddock. Mike Tyson in the second fight was in great physical condition, but technically his head movement. Also his legs, did not look as strong or as thick........................

Its like when Bernard Hopkins fought Joe Calzaghe, Hopkins trainned hard. But i beleave he made mistakes in preparation and had the wrong kind of preparation.

If your gonna climb a mountain, you wouldn't train 6 days aweek in a swimming pool..? still training hard but the wrong kind of preparation.

great fights. both a real smash up. crude brawls, but entertaining. I have long been hard on tyson for not winning gruellling fights but I am reminded here of how many times tyson had to come back at ruddock here. these are the closest things to 50-50 fights tyson won. however i cant decide if this was the point where tysons previous edge in speed had expired and no longer gave him the equaliser it had been pre tokyo against bigger men. ruddock certainly was never the same. no doubt had tysons career continued at this point perhaps a decline in tyson may have been more evident? instead tyson got a break from boxing that posibly stalled a decline and certainly stole his stamina...

^ tyson definitely looked declined here already. Physically he was in great shape, but i mean he showed very little headmovement, he left himself way too open, and looked to land too many bombs. Really the decline started back in 89 with the first Bruno fight. I think a peak 88/87 Tyson would have probably schooled ruddock.

great fights though. The second was brutal. Those body shots tyson was landing looked like they were caving ruddocks stomach in. Ruddock was tough to take all that punishment.

The two wars Ruddock fought with Tyson in 1991 took more outta Ruddock...... Ruddock was never the same afterward...... KO's over "Page and Phil Brown" doesn't mean **** in 1992 for Ruddock......... Ruddock's KO loss to Lewis to close the year is the true story........

There is nothing more annoying than Mike Tyson fans. And I love Tyson.
