Paul Williams vs Dmitri Pirog

Pirog has pretty much dominated everyone he has fought and has a decent KO percentage. His win was due to skill and ability, it was not a lucky punch or anything. He had belief and won away from home. How well he reacts to pressure is another thing, but he surely has the punch and sized to put most middleweights off. His movement and style will also cause many opponents big problems. He could probably beat the majority of shorter opponents by jabbing and sticking and moving. He showed us a lot on Saturday, certainly that he is not intimidated and has decent mental strength too.

 

Pirog reminds me of Froch with his awkwardness and lankyness. He more skilled and also a bit quicker though, so overall probably a bit better. He's definately beatable and I'd take Pavlik over him but i dont think P-Will has enough power to hold him off.

 

Pirog punch Williams, Williams go down.

 

Funny.... cause thats what woulda happened to Pavlik had he fought Calz.

 

Have to go with Williams based on experience at this point, but who knows I might change my mind in a few months/year depending on how Pirog develops.
Paul on the other hand has been terribly inactive and he's not a big MW so there's always a chance he might just bight off more then he can chew.

 

Put Pirog in with some stiff compitition before sticking him in with Williams, in a few years Pirog could well stop Williams due to Pauls bad habits in the ring, if the fight was to happen now it would be a UD for Williams.

Williams by decision. I highly doubt Pirog has dealt with that kind of pressure. He just might crack.

 

Williams does not have the strength, skill, or punching power to hang with someone like Pirog. Let's get serious here, Williams was beaten by little Quintana, Pirog would take his head off.

 

I mostly picked Jacobs before the fight because I had seen Jacobs and none of Pirog, also mostly because I respect Ishe Smith and there was nothing aside from that in either resume to suggest that they had anything but padding on their records. Jacobs was a KO waiting to happen. He was easy to hit and timid against guys who were not afraid to assert themselves.

I'm not saying Pirog is junk, but he got handed a fat gift in Jacobs so to rate him highly against a proven guy like PWilliams is, to be conservative, a bit premature.

 

Besides his last fight who on has this guy beat that is in the same class as Quintana and even jacobs like be serious paul williams by stoppage period

 

I'm not sure Pirog is as good as Jacobs was bad that night.

I saw plenty of Jacobs before this fight and he had his flaws. Pirog? He looked good last night and that's about all I can say about him.

Beat Williams? I wouldn't bet on it.

 

Anyone can have an off night. What happened to Quintana in the rematch?
