Why is this little man so great, if not the greatest in our times? Discuss. No trolling please.

Well, for one he's not as little of a man as people believe him to be.

Like Roach has stated in the past, Pacman always needs to be active doing something, suggesting he most likely has a real high metabolism. So like Floyd and RJJ even when they are not fighting they always stay in great shape no matter what. They all retained much of their speed and power with the exception of Floyd from their days in the lighter divisions and it has been a blessing for them. Plus Pacman under the tutelage of Roach wouldn't of have gotten as far as he has without him. Just like I don't think Chavez, Jr would not have beaten Duddy if not for Roach. So basically his lifestyle, discipline, training methods, and quest to get better than the last time is the key to Pacman's success. He no doubt has heart, but fights more with his brain now.

if he eats 7000+ calories a day, skipping a few meals don't sound that significant. That would probably be relief more the anything.

anyway, he's great because got that special kind of talent that only the truly great fighters have. All of the great fighters from Leonard to Robinson Ali, Tyson etc, all had that special something that put them in a league above the rest. Pac is just one of those special dudes with amazing ring instincts and ability. The stuff he has can't be taught.

Remember what happen to bernabe concepcion recently when he tried to be emmanuel?

yaeh , did you catch the word 'small'? If he has to eat over 7000 calories to maintain his weight ,he's a naturally small guy.

He's not as small as people make him out to be. Remember that poll where you guys all voted that he was naturally a 140'er? His own master just called him a welterweight now.

God given athletic abilities, strong work ethic, strong mind, strong faith in God, great coach. Pac would probably say the same thing.

he has grown into the weight more, but he's definitely a smaller welter. He'd be a damn killer at 140 .

    Yes, he is a welter.

The way he ages is the most fascinating thing. People in the lighter divisions don't last as long, and the same goes for fighters that trade and get hit a lot. emmaneul still looks excellent at 31.

    1. Fight B level boxers such as: Fahsan 3K Battery, Hector Velazquez Oscar Larios, Jorge Solis and David Diaz.

    2. Fight very good but not too good boxer such as: Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey. Throw in Antonio Margarito as well.

    3. If you can't beat them give them a rematch just not right away.
Pacquiao lost to Erik Morales on 3/19/2005 Morales was 47-2 at the time. When they rematched on 11/18/06 Morales was 48-4. Pacquiao had one fight before the rematch.
After his Draw with Juan Manuel Marquez. A fight in which if it were not for the three knockdowns he scored in the first he would have lost on 5/8/2004. He waited till 3/15/2008, and won a disputed split decision. Marquez entered the first fight at 42-2 and the second fight at 48-3-1. Between the two fights Pacquiao fought 8 times.

    4. Fight Past their best former top 10 Pound for Pounders : Marco Antonio Barrera (second fight.), Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.

    5. Get oppoents to drop down in weight or fight at a catchweight : De La Hoya, Cotto and Margarito.

    6. On occasion fight a top ratted Pound for Pound boxer in his prime. Just not too often.
Barrera (first fight) W TKO 11, Marquez (first fight) Draw, Morales (first fight) L UD 12 and Marquez (second fight) W SD 12.
That is a record of 2(1)-1-1. It could easily be 1(1)-3.

That ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls is how to become the fighter of the decade.

PAc actually has to stuff himself to maintain weight at 147. Most 147 fighters don't have to do that.

Your not taking into account actual training which burns a lot of calories. So maybe his natural walking around weight is 147-154. But with the way top fighters work in the gym, there burning off a ton of calories, and Pac has eat a lot to maintain the weight.

A guy like Mosley or Cotto doesn't have to do that. Their natural walk around weight is probably 160+. They can eat regurally or they have to cut back on meals even with intensive training. That's the difference.

Just look at the Pac - Clottey fight and tell me Pac is a natural welter. When the Margo fight happens your gonna see how much Margarito dwarfs him.

i think pac is better at 140, but saying he is small is crap...if he can go up to 150, it's time to cut the small nonsense

and, as i said, look at the tape..his arms, hands, legs, calves are on par with with other JrWW and WWs...he is a little short and has a smaller waste, but makes it up elsewhere
