Alexander: "Khan Has Alot Of Flaws - He's Just A Solid Fighter Like The Rest Of Them"

I peg Alexander to be the top 140 man by the end of next year. If I am wrong, I will give up Twix bars for one month and/or kiss a duck's ass. If I'm right, I will ask those who disagree to give up something for a month and/or kiss a duck's ass.

 

Khan is the king at 140lb.

 

I don't see much wrong in what he said.

 

Khan definitely has a lot of flaws, but he is improving all the time with Roach. Every performance he has had Roach in his corner he has improved.

 

In regards to who is the most talented, I really can't seperate the two. If you put a gun to my head, I'd probably edge towards Khan. He seems to have the capacity to go much further than he's already shown us. The more time he spends with Roach, the better he's becoming.

But he does have that one awful weakness, which can make all that talent meaningless in a matter of seconds. Alexander is fortunate to have not been plagued by this, and can fight his fights knowing he'll never have to worry about that.

If they fight today, no doubt that Alexander will do him over. But in 2/3 years time? I'm not so sure. We don't know how good Khan can be.

 

Khan still reaches with his punches. Something that wasnt corrected in the malignaggi fight.

 

Telegraphs and comes forward in straight lines too

 

Khan realised that mistake. He said he did that in the post press conference.

 

Talent wise amir khan is better. He has natural attributes which only ceartin fighters have such as crazy handspeed,fast reflexes and movement.His work ethic is also solid. The chin is suspect, time will telll if it will hold out.

Skillwise devon is better. Devon can counterpunch from angles like marquez and his amatuar career is huge and seems to make him well schooled. It's a shame a fighter like him failed the olympic trials as i think he should of partcipated. Devon does seems a little flat footed, he does not really move as good as khan and bradley. I don't know if its because of his style but it does put him at a disadvantage.
I would say that right now probably devon would win, but I don't really know how good khan is until he fights better opposition. The same with devon, the fight with kotenlik will show what devon can do. I think though that in 2 years time, if they fight amir will win.This is because, unlike bradley and devon, Amir khan has used his natural talent to beat fighters , freddie has started showing him skills. In a sense, fighters like bradley and devon have already peaked, but amir hasn't.

 

If the question is who is the more dynamic talent, the answer is clearly Alexander. I wouldn't describe Khan as dynamic at all. Khan is not that good of a defensive fighter and has trouble taking punches. As a result, he can't take too many chances. He needs to be cautious which prevents him from being as dynamic as a guy like Alexander.

 

I think talent-wise its Devon. Amir has amazing athletic ability but doesn't seem fluid. He relies too much on punches through the middle in straight lines. This is partly a means to help him get his guard back up quickly and worked for Wlad K as a method of dominating fights AND protecting his chin but Khan's height advantage is not as great.

Regardless, it would be a good fight as Amir's jab is almost as good as Wlads P4P.

 

Khan has too many flaws to dominate at the highest level, unfortunatly. His chin is the obvious one but he has others too. He doesn't slip punches or move his head, which no one seems to notice about him. He has a decent punch, a good jab, he's very strong at his weight and has great speed but I doubt he'll beat guys such as Bradley, Alexander and Pacquiao.

 

Khan doesn't have a good jab, he's got a phenomenal jab!

Yes, he's definitely got some serious flaws that would prevent him from dominating today. But so did Manny Paquiao when he was 23. The only question is will Khan have the relentless will to improve?

On topic, head-to-head I think talent-wise it's a toss-up. Maybe I give Alexander a SLIGHT advantage in the talent dept. If they met today, I'd give a hair's width overall advantage to Khan to win UD.

 

Alexander hands down he's superior to Khan in all areas and has the trump card over him as well in having a much better chin.
