well he bested Hagler the MW king. The majority of unbiassed fans know Roberto edged that fight

    You are joking, right?

And even if this was true (which it isn't by a long shot) Hagler was better stylistically suited for Duran. You'd be better off watching his fights against Benitez and Hearns to get a take on how he'd fare against Robinson.

At 160? What evidence is there to say that Fitzimmons would have won for gods sake

You've named one extremely inexperienced fighter, a light heavy and a fighter from the turn of the century who wasn't really a middleweight either.

I think Robinson beats Monzon for what it's worth but I would make Hagler a favourite. As for Greb I can't base a prediction on what I haven't seen, but I don't think whirlwind fighters got it done against Ray.

I'd love for that to be true, but it's not.

Pulling away from punches, lax guard, tendency to paw with shots, little or no technical ability on the inside or in the clinch...

All things which Robinson lacked, of course...

Despite the fact that the latter picked up a strap there, had about 20 fights there (all bar one of which exists on film), and has a win over an ATG Middle on his record not long before his finest ever performance?

Yes, because that happened, didn't it? (And Robert Allen was far from second-rate.)

Nor for any other boxrec warrior who can't dechiper film to save their life.

Despite the fact that all of those guys have inferior skillsets?

    What a surprise.

Yes, he had great trouble with lamotta, despite beating him five times and schooling, humiliating and knocking him out brutally at his best weight in their most significant fight.

Yeah, that wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that he was past-prime or anything...

You talk right out of your ass sometimes.

    1) LaMotta was in the worst shape he'd ever been for their 6th meeting, terribly weight drained. He moved up in weight directly after this fight in case you don't recall. The weight making had been killing him for some time.

    2) It was hardly a schooling up until the final rounds. In fact, Jake was landing more consistently with his jab than vice-versa, and boxing on even terms with Robinson in centre ring.

    3) I don't recall Robinson "knocking him out brutally". He never even had him off his feet, nor did he in any of their other matchups. In fact, the only fighter to have been off his feet (and through the ropes) was Robinson.

    4) How on Earth was the 6th bout "their most significant fight"?

Yeah, all those deficiencies were truly lethal to his career...like Marciano's dreadful shortcomings, and Ali with that low guard and leaning back from punches..and lack of fundamentals!! Your're a broken record Itry...

Barkley was on a streak toward greatness coming off a spectacular stoppage of Hearns. Duran stopped him in his tracks and perhaps ruined him. Yet a semi ruined version of Barkley was still able to defeat Hearns after, is testament to how good Barkley really was!
