5 Wins? Adamek was alledgedly weight drained but wheather he was or wasnt, he wasnt a good LHW having life and death struggles with Briggs (did you see what put him down recently?) Johnson - How many times has he been beaten? And by who? Tarver split a couple of close fights which shows the level (read line above) Beating Pascal wouldnt be a bad result, but we know Pascals level after being beaten by the limited Carl Froch The real LHW champion is Zsolt Erdei
Maybe he should go up to cruiserweight if he ever wants a title in a new weightclass. His frame would allow him to go up to cruiserweight but he would be a fairly small heavyweight. There wouldnt really be much chance of him winning a title at heavyweight but he could probably beat a few contenders if he went up.But cruiserweight would be a good option. He could get fights with fairly well known names in Marco Huck and steve Cunningham.
That's the big question, and it's why Dawson has such a grand opportunity against Pascal. Fighting on HBO in Montreal, Americans fans will see a young, undefeated American getting jeered by a hostile crowd, at which point jingoistic pride will kick in. It should be a solid action fight and if Dawson prevails, he's likely acquire many more fans. Chad is saying he needs a knockout to win, and if he actually pushes for one and gets it, his career will take off.
He did have to hold to gather himself before fighting back. He did well to come back and keep himself standing and did fight back well
You attempt to nitpick Dawson's resume, then assert resume-less Erdei? And you wonder why people don't respect your posts? Adamek was an undefeated LHW in his 20s. He was very good and was the clear betting favorite against Dawson. Johnson has been a world class contender for years. People who judge him on his early days are being ignorant. Tarver had beaten Woods handily and had relatively less wear and tear than most fighters his age. Again, he was top five in the division. Pascal is a world class contender who beat Diaconu twice. He's solid. And you're underselling Froch as well. Whom do you like? (Please don't say Erdei. ...)
IF he can get that signature KO highlight against Pascal, he can really make an impact marketing wise.
Anti-American, pro-european. That is after all, all you ever post about ever. If you have something legitimate to say about Dawson, by all means go ahead and say it, but everything you have said in this thread is either meaningless(counting dawson's KD's) or ridiculous(zsolt erdei, a currently CW fighter with no relevant p4p comp ever being LHW champ). I don't think he can pull of the KO. He just doesn't have the power.
He won't get it! Not agains't Pascal :nono Dawson is a smart boxer but doesn't have this killer instinct he could hurt Pascal by nice timing shot but need to get away as soon as they land because Pascal will make him pay! Dawson could win a UD and a clear one! But he can't have passive rounds in this fight because Pascal learn to win fight by taking those off-moments as his adventage ( he learn this from Froch loss) .
adamek is a bum now? well alright then EDIT: on another note i'd like to see Shumenov-Dawson one day, i like Beibut's style, kind of like a less mobile Gene Tunney.
I don't expect it, but consider who he's been fighting. Since moving up to 175, he has knocked out three opponents: Jamie Hearn (undercard of Calzaghe/Lacy), Jesus Ruiz, Piffy Mendoza. He defeated but did not knock out any of the following: Antonio Tarver X 2 (never stopped) Glen Johnson X 2 (stopped only once, by Hopkins, via accumulation) Tomasz Adamek (never stopped) Eric Harding (stopped once, by Tarver) That's a hell of a group of guys to try to KO. That's 168 professional fights combined, with only two KO defeats. He also did stop Ian Gardner at 168, who had managed to go the full distance with Arthur Abraham. On the other hand, Pascal is hardly a weak-chinned fighter, either. Dawson doesn't have great power, but he's not feather fisted, either.
