I think he is treated too harshly by fans. Fair enough he was too cocky after the gold but who wouldn't be? After stinking the place out on his debut I think on the whole he has been impressive and stepped up his performances. True groves was moved on quicker but that was bound to happen and in hindsight I think the americna debut was a back step. Dilks will be a decent test for degale and from there his opposition ought to improve all the time so I'm looking forward to things to come. Plus in terms of his personality, I've seen him treat fans very well after both paul smith fights in liverpool coming across as a nice and genuine guy :good
DeGale was getting hate the seconed he won the gold medal, same as Khan. He is deffinatley a talent, i see him winning world honours but he will lose a fight before he wins a world title.
How many more threads do we need to disect Degale, he is what he is, a very good PROSPECT, a bit of a knob head, and for the record, at the dodson fight against smith, he spent the whole evening ignoring the fights with ring card girl sat of his lap all night. He will have more trouble with Dilks than mnaty people think. Dilks KO1!
Same as Khan? When khan won silver the news media in the country was passing around a goblet filled with his spunk. He got an amateur fight an amateur fight as top billing on primetime tv. He knocked over a couple of scrubs and started making ppv money. Khan got everything handed to him on a plate. When did this happen with DeGale?
To be honest the first time I saw Khan I thought 'look at that jug eared *****'...now I think he is godly but still a *****.
I think he's really talented, if he doesn't slack off will be world class, comes across as a dickhead though.
I think people got sick of him turning up on TV every day in his Team GB track suit with his gold medal around his neck and talking like he was the fourth member of N-Dubz. He doesn't do himself any favours with his ring entrances either. Great talent but he could do with toning it down a couple of levels.
thought i was the only one who noticed that, as an amateur he never threw a corect punch, he seems to be adressing the problem since turning pro, he takes a bit of stick, but if people are on about you, good or bad, your an atraction , wich leads to being well paid:good
I like Degale and once he gets polished and stops trying to please the crowd because he fears getting a 'boring' tag and learn his identity as a fighter then watch out! because that height-leverage and straight left down the pipe will make some noise! I think he has a solid future; I just hope they don't shelter him or try and turn him into something he's not. I've said this before but he seems to have some deceptive "dig" to his wide array of punches and is brilliant at shifting speeds on the combo's and turns. I don't like how he squares up at times, would like him to stay at that 45 degree angle, semi-crouch. He reminds me a little of a young Michael Nunn with his defense as well. I also like how he hasn't got bored in the ring since the head gear and oversized gloves came off - bright future for this kid! I loved it in his last fight when he got his 'sweet pea' on...a fighter who studies Pernell is always good in my book.
I remember when he got murdered on here for his entrance with some random guy [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBp2jlPq8K4"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBp2jlPq8K4[/ame]
I'm not a big fan but from what I have heard and seen he is a very hard worker so I don't think this will be his problem. Ego might be!!!
Can't remember who it was but someone had a lot of success with that style. Maybe he has bad hands too!!!
