You only gain mass if you consume more calories than your body burns. You have no idea about weight training, I don't see why you're even giving an opinion on this topic when you know absolutely **** all.

LOL. Coming from you who thinks lifting weights makes you loose weight. Cardio is how you loose weight. I see you didn't disprove my point. I guess that is GSM. Good luck losing weight by lifting weights.

This is entirely dependant on "how" you train. If you employ a regime that is sports specific (IE complements your training in your desired sport) there is no reason for putting on any weight unless your regime is designed to do this.

Additionally there are many factors required for increasing lean muscle mass or even just muscle mass. Diet, conditioning, rest, and your work out regime to name but a few.

Its not possible to look at weights = gains in weight in such a modular fashion as thats simply not true nor that simplistic. If weights automatically meant gaining weight the IOC wouldnt have weight categorys for their power lifters. There are many facets required for achieving peak conditioning in your sport of choice. Weights is one of them.

I've recently taken up a strength twice per week and endurance once per week weights scheme. I've lost about 3lbs actually gained strength, that's in a few weeks.

These of course are extremely rare results, of course lifting any weight makes you become Ronnie Coleman, I better watch out, I'll be going from featherweight to heavyweight soon the way I'm going. I'm thinking a few months and I will build about 40kg of muscle mass :)

Lifting heavyweights DOES promote weight loss. Thats why Ricky Hatton works with Kerry Kayes. Lifting heavy weights increases the metabolism and promotes drastic weight loss.

Its pretty clear you have made too many assumptions about working out. Or dont work out. Or are getting bad advice. Cardio is most certainly NOT the only way to loose weight. Matter of fact it is proven that lifting heavy weights is a more effective means of loosing weight and achieving peak physical conditioning.

I just dont understand why posters insist on posting opinions that have no semblance in fact or personal experience.

Yeah sure mate. You lost weight and felt stronger because you were overweight to start with. Good on you mate for trying to do something about it I wish you all the best with your weight loss.
