I was a guy who always put down Floyd as someone who does not take on the challenges, and I still think he avoids tough fights, although I do think he is great and that he could win those tough fights, he just doesn't want to find himself in a tough fight where he might lose so he handpicks more sure things against guys who do not have that knockout punch which could turn a fight with one punch. But he fought Shane and Shane was champ at 147 and he beat Shane. There should be no excuses. He beat a fellow great who was a little past his prime. People said over and over to fight Shane and that he was afraid, he fights him and now they say he beat a rusty Shane. That is not fair. He fought him and beat him and that is a win. Give him credit. Shane beat up Margarito recently and Floyd beat him. Floyd deserves credit without excuses for Shane.
:thumbsup Since Mayweather's true believers like to tear down Pacquiao for taking "in house" fighters, let me remind everybody that both of the Pretty One's fighters since coming back were from GBP. And on top of that Mosely being an owner of GBP has a DIRECT FINANCIAL stake in a Pacquiao and Mayweather bout. Either of GBP's fighters beat Mayweather and that CASH COW goes away. :hi:
All the while you gloss over the fact that Mosley was in training camp right up until the last minute to fight another WW champ, Berto. Popkins you are a moron. :deal
So your implying both bouts were fixed? So your forgetting the 2nd round in the Mosley bout? Was he not supposed to catch Mayweather with those two big right hands?
Obviously, didn't you see Oscar in the audience jumping and laughing with joy that there biggest draw was about to get knocked out?
Floyd tried to pursue a fight with Mosley in '99, but he wasn't interested as he had his eyes set on moving up to welterweight and fight De La Hoya. Jack Mosle came out and said Mosley would only fight Mayweather for a $10 million pruse. Mosley turned down another opportunity to fight Mayweather in 2006 because he claimed he had a toothache and he wasn't ready.
Let's put it this AnthonyW, I have about the same amount of proof as the Pretty One has on Pacquiao being on PED's, which is none. The only difference between me and Floyd Jr is I openly admit mine is conjecture, while on the other hand the other side is presenting it as a FACT. What I was trying to do was turn on its head an argument that Pacquiao haters use to tear down his accomplishments. In the case of the first fight Marquez, literally had NOTHING to lose in fighting Mayweather. He got the biggest payday and an extra $600,000 out of Mayweather. And on top of that his loss to him didn't affect his standing, especially amongst his fans one way or another. The thing with Mosley is that between Mayweather and Pacquiao's opponents, he had a DIRECT financial stake to see a Pacquiao/Mayweather fight happen. Being a co-owner of GBP he was going to get a chunk of the pie from BOTH fighters not just Mayweather. He definitely hurt and got the Pretty One's attention with those power shots. Why he seemingly quit punching and fighting after the 3rd round is beyond me? He wasn't the same guy that fought Margarito, THAT's for sure.
Kostya Tszyu blows up in weight when not fighting. I remember Emanuel Augustus talking about how Tszyu would come into camp over-weight and had a beer belly. He also thought it worked against him. He can get up to around 175 pounds or so I remember hearing during that time. But with him, unlike say Hatton, despite being the same height, Tszyu was a thick Mother-F***** so he held the weight much better. Like Cotto did when he would gain weight when not fighting. Now with Shane, not only does he stay in shape year round, he was also training to fight Berto. However, I do wonder if making 147 took it's toll on his stamina. He never seemed quite right from the start of his return to 147. Even with the adjustment, I kind of question it. That said, Pac still thought he was "to good" to fight him so he had to be good still. Credit for Floyd for taking the fight. :-D Plus, remember, Tszyu had been injured several times during those years which forced him out because he needed surgery. That takes a toll on your body. Layoffs aren't that good though. Some older fighters do think it can work in their favor because the body takes longer to rest. Given the way Floyd has been going about his business with now being a "part-time" fighter, you do wonder. I think staying in the gym, eating well, and living a good life is key. everybody is different. Activity usually is good. Tszyu, again, I think he only fought 9 rounds in 3 years going into the Hatton fight. Add that to him not staying truly fit year round; That's really being inactive.
come off it, after the pac fight fell through SSM was a decent fight for floyd. lets be honest, floyd makes it look easy against most fighters. agree that he seems to duck fighters in form though.
