anyone who is a boxing fan respects his talent and skillset.

anyone who has any integrity at all doesnt respect him as a human being.

I can see and respect why you feel that way. However this is a boxing forum. This is not a personality forum. If that were case the pseudo-Christian, lying, adulterous Pacquiao with his out of wedlock child(ren) would be less popular. But he isn't, because people love his boxing ability. I don't know Floyd personally and I doubt that I ever will, but based on his boxing ability alone, he's all right with me.

I understand your point to a certain extent, but you're comparing apples to oranges. In basketball every team plays each other and at least the playoff system guarantees the best of each conference will face off.

Boxing doesn't has nothing close to that. Hell, the organizations can't even get the best fighter to face off. To say that Mayweather is the best is an opinion, an OPINION that he likes to expouse, but won't back up. :hey

then you should have changed the title to your thread to How can anyone not respect mayweather as a fighter?

respect refers to the persons total character and reputation.

    idiot.

I respect the fact that he at least stood toe-to-toe while getting into a slap-fest with a WOMAN. :gayfight

Can you imagine if he slapped and ran like he does in his boring ass fights? :mj

Floyd fans admire him for basically going after big paydays and avoiding tough fights. This is more like a reality show to them and FLoyd's the star. It's not about boxing.

You sound like Ellerbe, not as a boxing fan. You are totally fine with pre fight conditions being changed even if it means a superfight won't happen. FFS, Floyd is not even using the drug test anymore as an excuse. He just want a vacation.

Listen to Void, Sr.'s own words! Void, Sr. said that he never wants Void, Jr to fight Pac. He said that right after Pac stopped Cotto. Void has been running from Pac ever since! Roach tried to get Void to fight Pac right after the Hatton fight, but Void ran away! Void lies about Pac. Void lied about Pac to save face for being afraid. Void is a coward, he is afraid to lose to Pac and Void knows it. Pac has never tested positive for drugs! Pac agreed to test immediately after the fight. It does not matter what Pac agrees to, Void will never fight Pac. Style make fights and Pac is the wrong style for Void. Pac by knockout.

I respect his skillset and his accomplishments at lightweight, but I don't respect the fact that he's clearly not interested in challenging himself at welterweight or providing value for his fans. He openly states that's he's in it for the easiest fights at the most money. I don't respect that.

I respect Manny a lot. But he answers to Arum. Floyd doesn't answer to anybody. So I'm not sure what the point of your comparison is.

Nah, I tried to be a fan when he went up to 140 and destroyed Gatti but I just can't like him. The guy has zero respect for the sport. I've heard him in multiple interviews try to **** on the legacies of true legends like Leonard, Ali, SRR, and I won't even go there with his smear campaign against Pac. He should show some more respect for these fighters who overcame a hell of a lot more difficult challenges than he's ever faced, and who paved the way for him to "steal money from the fans", which is another despicable thing I heard him say on ESPN. The guy is a douche. Only thing I repect about him is his dedication to training, though that's taken a hit with the stunt he pulled in the Marquez fight.

It's him being his own man which allows him to pick and choose who and when he fights. This has led to him retiring from the sport in his prime and running away from the top welterweights when it was the hottest division in boxing. It's now what's allowed him to go on vacation, running away from the best fighter of his generation and screwing the fans of the most anticipated matchup possibly in history. I can't respect that.
