Proven to be a bust or not he was proven to be that by the man that beat him, a man no one gave a chance to remember?, Baldomir also defended his belt as a huge underdog against Gatti. Those two wins are better than everything Margarito did at the time and that includes the ATG Andrew "Six heads zero chins" Lewis fight you use to inspire yourself to keep breathing. **** a camel?. Let me remind you of a certain PM you sent me. "Hey yo man, I am planning a visit, you think it's affordable for a good ol' Alaskan shoe polisher?".
It is a very good post... However, I would give him a little more credit for the Zab Judah win. Also, he didn't really duck Clottey. Clottey started really picking up steam after Mayweather had been in retirement. Still...
When it comes down to it, there can be a case made for any given fighter avoiding at least 1 or 2 fighters. Pacquiao = Shane Mosley and Juan Manuel Marquez Roy Jones = Daruiz Michealchewski Bernard Hopkins = Chad Dawson David Haye = The Klitschkos Floyd = Manny Pacquiao, Paul Williams, Cotto Paul Williams = Sergio Martinez Amir Khan = Marcos Maidana Tim Bradley = Devon Alexander Riddick Bowe = Lennox Lewis Kelly Pavlik = Paul Williams The bottom line is: some do and some don't. I just look at the record, the quality of opposition, the way in which the opposition was dispatched, etc.
lets look at the facts. as a WW floyd fought mitchell: debut at WW, cant overly knock it. judah: expected to beat baldomir, contract and ppv already signed. cant knock it. baldomir: lineal champ, offered bigger purse than vs margo, again cant knock. hatton: absolutley must see fight, hatton was a p4p contender and WW champ. marquez: comne back fight, dint mean much mosley: another lineal champ. now a WW resume consting of them names aitn to bad, but it could be better. lets look at who he didnt fight. cotto: neither side pushed for fight, a big shame. williams, got upset badle by quintana. then moved up. margo, lost to williams then got exposed as a cheat pacman, no reason for not fighting. now for a goat, it just doesnt compare with hearns and duran and benitez. but it is ok. i really wish cotto would have pushed for the fight as it would have been a war. i wish it was better but it is what it is, lets just hope he fights pacman.
I agree with most of your list with the following being the changes I would make: Pacquiao = Shane Mosley This content is protected - This content is protected Roy Jones = Daruiz Michealchewski, This content is protected Bernard Hopkins = Chad Dawson David Haye = The Klitschkos Floyd = Manny Pacquiao, Paul Williams, Cotto - This content is protected Paul Williams = Sergio Martinez Amir Khan = Marcos Maidana, This content is protected Tim Bradley = Devon Alexander Riddick Bowe = Lennox Lewis Kelly Pavlik = Paul Williams That being said, each of the listed fighters is downgraded for their efforts in the art of ducking...And MAYBE with exception of Pac and MAYBE Paul Williams, there are no GOAT candidates on that list, and I once thought PBF had the potential...
so who's alt are you? Gatti happened at 140, Gatti was the number 3 ranked fighter at 140 and Mayweather embarrassed him, the guy who was supposed to be to big, strong, and more courageous than Mayweather. DLH happened at 154, DLH was the top ranked 154 fighter at the time. Definitely the strongest belt holder in the division. Mayweather beat him 8-4 easily, regardless of the split decision. Sharmba Mitchell, Mayweather moved up and fought a tune up while waiting for a Zab Judah fight. Judah was supposed to be the guy, the one everyone toted as being athletic and skilled enough to hang with Mayweather. After the stunner, Mayweather kept their agreement and then promptly dominated Judah. Baldomir was the champion who took Judah's crown, Mayweather picked him apart. Hatton, called Mayweather out after ripping apart a faded Castillo. Mayweather put Hatton in his place. BTW, Hatton kept Mayweather's name out of his mouth following the Gatti fight. Blame him for not having the fight at 140 and earlier. The Marquez fight was going to set up the Pacquiao fight, it was a safe return and would showcase Mayweather against the guy that gave Pacquiao hell. plain and simple Mosley, after 10 years of running Mosley grew the balls to finally fight Mayweather. 10 years he ran, ducked, and hauled ass to avoid Mayweather until he checked his bank statement and realized Oscar wasn't around for a fight anymore. And Mayweather made the best 147 lbs fighter(outside of himself and Pacquiao), the number 3 ranked fighter p4p look like a ****ing chump. As for this laughable avoided list: Cotto: Cotto had his shot back at 140, and after the Gatti fight he refused to utter the name Mayweather for fear of getting a similar ass whooping. After the 140 campaign, Bob Arum is what prevented any fight from happening. Clottey: Are you ****ing kidding me? Joshua "I can't win the big ones" Clottey, the guy who struggled with Richard Gutierrez. He ****ing lost to Baldomir, the "chump" that you are upset Mayweather fought. Margarito: Besides this now looking like an excellent decision not to fight plaster fist for fear of attempted murder, plaster fist was a nobody at Welterweight when Mayweather blew through with his initial plan to fight Judah, who held a majority of the belts. Following the Judah fight Mayweather fought Baldomir for more Money and no Bob Arum, who essentially locked off his stable to Mayweather. Pacquiao: Can't comprehend random. Williams: Mayweather had already said he was retiring well before Paul won his mandatory challenge to Margarito. He retired, Paul lost his belt, regained it then moved up in weight. Paul is no longer a Welterweight. Berto: Are you high? Berto was a prospect when Mayweather was on the top of the division the first time through. When Mayweather was fighting Judah, Hatton, DLH, etc. in the 06-07 years, Berto was fight Cosme Rivera and David Estrada. Yeah Mayweather was ducking him, and Wlad is ducking Gabe Brown. Kermit Cintron: He got KO'd by Plasterfist. And was fighting the likes of David Estrada when Mayweather was blowing his way through.
hatton was an undefeated beast when PBF picked him apart, all you whinning bitches would have cried he avoided hatton, instead he pummeled him.
There are legitimate explanations for almost any actions a person takes...But, my point is; after 6 years of somehow not fighting the top/toughest guys in his own division, it's a pattern of avoidance...
and there you have Jr welter weight, Welter weight and according to the WBC (Floyds belt of choice) at 154 you have super welter weight....:hi:
ignorance is bliss. He did fight the best, he made them look stupid by dominating them. So people like you think they were never worthy opponents. You sound like a complete moron w/ zero boxing sense.
PBF's early fights were at 130lb. These are professional boxer who can loose and gain 10lbs. overnight. A couple ****ing lbs. doesn't make all the difference in the world. Pbf was clearly the supreme fighter in all his fights. Hatton was embaressed horribly. I guess that was due to gaining a few lbs. Why the **** are you spending your night creating a thread about him if he sux so much. You sound like such an expert......maybe a closet fanboy??
Then let me add to my list of avoided fighters: Vernon Forrest, Sergio Martinez, Winky Wright...oh my this list could get really long...
you may as well becuase Floyd called out Winky and Winky said he would fight Floyd but all Winky got back from Floyd were the crickets... Forrest has called out Floyd but we all know Floyd wasnt going to fight that man... Probably should have though since Mora did fight him and caught him asleep at the wheel... Not sure if you could really add Martinez but just for shits and giggles why not.:hey
It's true. However, Hatton looked horrible at Welter Weight... This isn't revisionist history either, people were well aware of how he looked against Collazo when the Floyd match was announced. People wanted him to win because he seemed like a nice guy, but most knew he didn't belong at Welter Weight.
