... "Schaefer told me he wanted a 50-50 split of the purse, and that Manny had to go through random drug testing," Arum said. "There was no way."...

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/spo...-floyd-mayweather-jr-juan-manuel-marquez.html

These are the same demands they asked 7 months ago for the same fight:

"Schaefer said Arum approached him on Thursday to discuss the possibility of making a third fight between Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. But the discussions went nowhere because besides insisting on a 50-50 split, Marquez also asked for the same level of drug testing as Mayweather. Schaefer also said that while he had not spoken to Shane Mosley about a future fight with Pacquiao, it was likely that Mosley would also require blood testing before any fight with Pacquiao."

I'm almost positive it's simply the fact that Schaefer and GB can't inconsistently back down from drug testing for Marquez and make such a fuss about it for Mayweather. Marquez would do anything for that fight.

In January, it was Marquez who wanted 50/50 and random testing.

7 months later, Schaefer is singing the same tune.

I thought beggars can't be choosers.

If that's the case, was there any testing during the Marquez/Diaz fight since they're into "cleaning the sport".

Exactly. They are all out to get Pacquiao. They are singling him out.

Probably because it would weaken their defense in Pac's court case if they back down. This would mean it is now almost impossible for Pac to fight any of their fighters because of this road block that GBP and company have to put, not that Arum is making it any easier.

No, but Diaz hasn't been targeted and called out by several fighters after Floyd Sr. started the trend, and the fact that it's only a requirement for Pacquiao even further supports the notion that it's not Marquez but Schaefer who's inserting that stipulation. They don't want to "clean up the sport" but they can't prod him for Mayweather but say it's not necessary for another fighter, and you've never heard Marquez utter anything about steroids.

At this point, Marquez should get out of GBP (unless he's stuck). It sounds like his promotion is not looking out for his best interest. They're probably happier sacrificing him to Khan.

That's what I've been saying. I'm just not so sure how it would work out for him financially, but hopefully all is well if he decides to leave GBP.

He's starting a promotions company in Mexico aiming to help fighters and I think it's a part of or in partnership with GB so I don't think he'll be leaving.

But GBP rode w/ Floyd's insistence on the "Clean up the Sport" reasoning, they cannot just get off the bus, or else it will show that they're just zeroing on Pac and really not serious about that cleaning up BS.

What they're doing now would also have repercussions on their pending lawsuit.
