    Fact that he got knockdown 7 times on his first amateur fight. I mean, if I saw that today, I wouldn't think much of the kid. Yet Louis became one of the greatest of all time.

    I think they changed that after Dempsey/Willard but I'm not sure about the amateurs.

    He was, but almost every time, he got back up and brutalized the other guy into submission. Got even more dangerous. It's part of why he was so impressive.

    As far as I'm aware he did actually sign for them, it was all a gimmick of course.......Louis wasn't secretly a fantastic footballer/soccer player.
