Round 4

Cortez letting them work on the inside. Kayode quadruple hooks the body of Escalera. Kayode keeps his cross guard up as he advances, taking pitty-pat fire from Escalera and sharpshooting with power. Left hook lands for Kayode, then an uppercut. Escalera cops a low blow from an incoming uppercut and takes only a brief moment to recover. Kayode lands a pair of uppercuts to the chin while Escalera has his other arm trapped. Left hook/right hand combo lands for Kayode. Escalera keeps his arms tied up and jerks his gloves free only long enough to try and tap him on the face to score points. Kayode steps backward and rips uppercuts. Kayode the one moving his hands at the end of the round as Escalera tries to maintain the hold.

 

Cortez is doing really bad at breaking them up i think, he's letting them hug away for far too long

 

this kayode guy is raw, but he looks(and sounds) like a pretty legit puncher and he seems to be in good condition. If he adds a pair of real legs to his attack he'll be a bad man.

 

Round 5

Kayode lands his first jab very stiffly. Escalera immediately tries to wrap his arms around him. Kayode throws up earmuffs and uses his physical strength to shake Escalera off and get off some uppercuts. Escalera is turning his shoulder out and hedgehogging to defend. Kayode goes into automatic fire mode with up-hooks and uppercuts. Escalera is rocked and holds on. Escalera lands a right hand but Kayode ignores it and keeps punching. Escalera puts his forearms up and Kayode bashes them down.


"The division is controlled by Europeans and Germans". atsch This is not one of Steve's better nights.

 

Shobox usually has quality matchups, no real tomatos cans on it.

Round 6

Escalera plants his feet and launches a right hand every few steps. Kayode cracks him with a much harder right hand. Escalera jabs and Kayode simply palms it between his mitts. Escalera tries an uppercut when pushed into the ropes but it skids against Kayode's chest and arms. Kayode quintuple jabs over the back of the forward-bending Escalera. Kayode begins to score with lead rights and stiff jabs. BIG left hook knocks Escalera back a few steps.

 

Round 7

Kayode finding a home for the left hook and lands another big one. Escalera complains about holding behind the head and then does it himself. Kayode punches his way out of a clinch. Escalera turns his chin away as Kayode pummels his body with uppercuts. Escalera leans his face and neck into the left glove of Kayode as they clinch, and Kayode continues to work his free right hand to the body. Double hook high & low from Kayode. A right hand loops around the left glove of Escalera. Kayode continues to stay in front of Escalera to keep him pinned but doesn't have room to get off with full power.

 

Thanks, I try to give a shout out to that interview whenever possible. Especially since a Wlad-Peter II is topical right now .

Cmon man! Break that defense. Good tips by roach, he needs to make some space for his punches. With his reach he needs to push away a bit more.

 

Great advice, naturally, from Roach. He tells Kayode to stop crowding his punches, get some distance, and headhunt with the left hook & right hand combination.

 

That one ring card girl is sexy as hell.

 

Round 8

Kayode lands a 1-2 but gets check hooked (softly). Escalera doesn't sit on any of his punches; nothing lands any harder than his pushed-out jab. Meanwhile Kayode's jab is stiff enough to nearly be considered a power punch in its own right. Kayode lands a downward hook as Escalera rolls his shoulder, and Cortez calls time to re-tape the gloves of both fighters. They stand and trade in the pocket and Escalera gets buzzed with a two-fisted assault. Kayode brings the attack down to the body and Escalera goes 100% defensive. Kayode catches him trying to roll after a hard body combo with a right hand & left hook to the jaw and knocks him clear to the corner. HUGE left hook after Escalera comes back out to the middle of the ring.

 

It is stopped by Joe Cortez between rounds, as Escalera struggles to sit squarely on his stool.

 

What a crappy undercard fight and a horrible stoppage by Cortez.

 

That was some great left hook, yer man was in bits after that, no chance he could contine.
