    Round 8

Martin continues to land hard counter shots, especially the right knocking the head of Avalos back and sending sweat flying. Avalos lands an upward hook and a right hand but not with full leverage as Martin turns his cheek and moves away. They trade shots, with Martin very slick defensively and landing crisp and loud counters on Avalos, taking minimal leather in return. Avalos does get a hook in but is tagged himself a few times in the same melee.

The thing is, guys, Martin's makin peanut butta and jelly sanmmiches, but he's switchin' it up a little. He's puttin' some uh that mahmalade in there. Plus he's got da bunny hops in da hands. Avalos on the other hand, has no jelly left in the fridge. He might need some o' that mahmalade, but I don't know if he's got it in him.

I have him up 5-3. I gave Avalos 1, 2 and 4 (but wouldn't think it wrong to give 4 the other way).

Martin looks like a world class fighter. In complete command.

    Round 9

Martin is just anticipating and timing all of the punches of Avalos and countering him very fluidly. A couple of very big uppercuts give Avalos a moment's pause as he continues attempts to swarm. Martin lands a hook around the right glove of Avalos. Martin breathing through his mouth but does not seem to be lacking in energy. Avalos lunges up with a leaping hook. Martin leans on him and then rolls away, doing a bit of James Toney, and bangs away.

His rhythm and timing is amazing tonight. It's man vs. boy in there.

    Round 10

Avalos is now trying to put sequences together behind his jab. He lands a stray right hand but is still not able to find Martin with more than a single blow at once. Martin is just making himself too small, too mobile, and too slippery. Martin alternately shoeshines low on Avalos and launches a lead right at his chin as the power puncher plows in. They again trade in the pocket and Martin is able to make Avalos miss while getting countered from different directions. The right hand especially lands as an overhand and an uppercut, leaving the slow-armed Avalos with very few defensive options. Body punches from Martin. Avalos slugs with both hands, catching Martin with a right hand to the chest but completely missing all his head shots, and is hurt by a double left hook (bread basket and then chin) just at the bell.

    7-3 for Chris Martin.
