Paul "The Punisher" Povetkin offered World MW title shot and $1.5M, but still says no

Williams is disapointing i thought he would want to get back in there and prove he's better, obviously he has doubts......

williams probabley will rematch sergio he may just be trying to get a few more bucks out of it nothing wrong with that

 

I scored the fight for Martinez by 1 point, but PW is the one who has a W on his record. So if you think he'll accept to be lowballed because in your opinion he got a gift, then you don't know what you're talking about.

 

1.5mill being called a low ball offer? Please guys, Williams' team do not want the fight. I don't think Paul is afraid, but his promoter is.

 

I actually wouldn't take it if I was his promoter. It's low money to fight Sergio Martinez. We all saw what one fight did to him. It was a tough fight. Williams has been in some tough fights already and it looked like it has taken his toll the last time out. He needs some easier fights or smaller fighters to face off against.

Another fight with Martinez, win or lose, will just add more wear and tear. For that money, forget it. Martinez will do it for sure because he is already 35+

As a fan, I want to see it.

 

Belts used to be important but not quite the same allure. He can pick up one of the many titles they now have on display in each division.

The more tough fights you are in the faster your career ends which means, your money income stops from that part of your business.

It's one thing to sign up again for a Big Money fight that is tough. Sure, do it. But for 1.5 million, forget it. Not when you are Paul Williams and still haven't made the bank you would like to make.

1.5 million - taxes - Promoter/manager fees - training costs = not what you think.

If its 50/50 and Williams is getting 1.5 million it doesnt take a genius to figure how much Martinez will get.

3 Million for this fight seems too low compared to what others are making IMO

 

It seems that every big fight ends up being lambasted at the nagotiation table. I don't understand why these fighters don't fullfill their contracts and then scrap the promoter. After you've built a name what good is the promoter?

That's quite low for what was a great fight and for the middleweight championship.

For both of them.

They should at least make 3 million.

Im surprised HBO hasn't thrown more money at it.

Plus, he is not trying to fight at MW. I don't know for a fact, but I have a felling it's just too big for him to be completely honest. He's a WW fighter. Period. It's even a stretch for him to go up to 154, as he was 152.5 in his last fight, after eating a pretty hefty diet...


I don't know any details on negotiations or anything, so I won't comment about that. I just think he's trying to do what a lot of people say he should do in the first place: Establish himself at his best weight.

 

I would be inclined to believe that there is more than $3 in the purse for that fight. I could be wrong, though.

 

If it's only 3 million that's ****ing sad for both fighters. They both deserve quite more.

They should at least be making 3 million EACH
