williams claims he will fight anyone. his reluctance to fight segio contradcits that notion.

    He already fought him.

And this is a career and it takes the right offer to fight.

He said he would fight anyone but did he say for what price?

Wooo, somebody got offended! Only if Paul Povetkin read this, he might react by proving this nuthugger, Dan Rafael, the media and all the fans wrong and sign the damn contract! He just has to believe this is a fight he can legitimately win, and hell, even this Martinez fan gives him an excellent chance, so what's holding the Punisher back from punishing?

That is really a shitty payday for a MW title fight. Especially considering that it would be a rematch of a FOTY Candidate, and a fight that will be brutal and nasty...

    They both deserve better.

it was a fight that demands a rematch, one party is willing, one party aint.

And Williams demands a bigger pay.

One party is 35+ and needs as many fights and money before he retires and the other one is still young and promising who doesn't need the wear and tear he already got from the first match, not for a mere 1.5 million (before taxes and being bent over by your promoter/manager + training fees and other costs).

Give him big money and he'll make the fight.

    It comes down to money.

As a fighter in Williams position, you need to think smart, think long-term.....

one party is the mw champ of the world, and one party is a challenger.

look mate, if you think pussying out of a rematch by demanding you make more money than the champion is justifiable, then fair enough you got your opinion.

but i think it is bs. you aint changing my mind, and i aint going round the houses with this one.

That is a ridiculous post buddy... are you here for the sport and excitement or to ensure certain fighters well-being, health and financial?

Paul Williams is being offered HISTORY vs. a fighter he already beat AND is promised a 50-50 deal which is very generous from the World Middleweight Champion as he's risking everything. A "mere 1.5 million" might be PW's biggest ever payday, but even if not, it's his dream being offered to him and he starts counting how many more luxury cars he can work out from the deal?

One party still lost the last time out.

Paul can go and collect a paper title at this point since that is all people seem to care about with legacy points. The Title isn't quite what it used to be. There are 15 of them in every division.

Williams doesn't need the fight when the money is only at 1.5 million which is not what he will end up collecting at the end of the day when the subtractions are made. On top of that, the wear and tear from another fight will certainly shorten his career which means, less money and poor health. And it might even derail it straight-up because if he loses it will give other fighters the excuse not fight him.

He needs to play it smart.

It's not "pussying out" when the offer is not agreeable.

You are thinking like a fan. Not as a fighter/business person.

Start thinking like a Promoter and that is your investment and you will get it.

Other fighters have done the same and other fighters have done it while being paid much higher.

It doesn't mean it won't happen, just not now with that offer.

yes ppaul got the decision, it could have gone the other way if different judges would have been selected.

martinez is the best MW in the world. he is offering williams a 50/50 split. there is nothing else to it.

and like you said, paul dont want the wear and tear. what do you call some who is scared of a tussle? a *****. and if that is the excuse for not fighting, it is pussying out.

as a businessman williams aint a draw, and he wont make 1.5 mil vs anyone else this year.

As a Fan, I want the fight to happen. But I'm not oblivious to the business side of things.

History is COMPLETE BULL**** and the sooner you get that the sooner you will understand. History fades. As soon as you retire you fade fast. Walk on the street and ask who SRR is and I bet 99% people won't know.

When you are dead, few if any will remember. And eventually, all will forget.

The only thing that you can say that matters is what you are and how you may want to be perceived while you live. How you feel about yourself is most important.

But History, forget it. It all gets buried and eventually, even if dug up and found, gets skewed and will eventually vanish at some point again...especially when Humans do.

1.5 million is not what you think. You are not even going to have half of that after the subtractions.

But he can make that up by fighting easier competition and not get the wear and tear that he did against Sergio.

I'm a fan of Sergio much more than I am of Paul's and I know it is a dumb move if you can get other options and another path. Patience is key.

Sergio wants it of course because he is 35+

One more tough fight and your career can go way down-hill fast. And for 1.5 million, which again, is not the final amount when it is all said and done from subtractions, is not worth it at this point.

Paul fought him once. Was he a ***** then?

    It's about money.

If you can't draw flies to ****, $1.5M + an opponent you already 'beat' + the World Middleweight Championship is a pretty ****ing generous offer. Even if I agree that these guys deserve more, HBO is not charity, they are putting in to then get it out, and even as Martinez' stock is sky high now (and certainly higher that Williams'), I still have to say $3M is being a realistic overall offer if we truly want to think business-wise. But then again, who cares about business, let's get it on! Martinez' signiture is already on the contract, we only need Williams'.

PWill won a h2h match and the fight was very close but IMO Pwill won a decision I scored it for him as a did a LOT of people who were watching it.

Also, Pwill does have a fan base, to argue otherwise is utter bull****. The guy has a very fan friendly style, throwing a ton on punches and gets inside even though he doesnt have to. Even casual fans like these posters on here like Pwil''s style.

Pwill also isnt a natural middleweight, the guy isnt that big, hes skinny as hell. He belongs at welter or at most super middleweight. The fact that he can be competitive at middle is a telling factor to his skill and determination in the ring.

Pwill is one of the most action packed figthers in the sport right now. he might be trying to hold out for a shot at Pac or even Floyd. he is sure a better opponent than plastergate, who he holds a h2h win over.

He is an HBO fighter that is perhaps behind pac the most exciting style in boxing right now. He doesnt fight safety first. Look how many people on ESB talk about him.

He isnt a pac or floyd draw, but he is a draw. IMO he should be on the radar for Pac at 147. Behind Floyd it is pacs best opponent at 147.
