Boo, very nice analysis! If Abraham has learned his lessons from the Dirrell fight, then he'll stop Froch and Kessler. Abraham will definitely win against Froch, I've no doubt about it. Against Kessler however, I'm not quite sure, because Kessler has a defense. AA has his puncher's chance against the Danish Viking, but without being more active, I can see Kessler win by a narrow margin. Froch - AA: 30:70 Kessler - AA: 50:50
All I can find is an article in the danish version of metro express: http://www.metroxpress.dk/dk/article/2010/04/20/22/3609-83/index.xml This is the qoute: »Kessler har især én megaforce. Han har en granitkæbe. Han er aldrig røget nævneværdigt i gulvet, og eneste tælling er 13 år siden som amatør.« Roghly translated: "Kessler has especially one megaforce, he has a granite chin. He has never been seriously floored and the only time he has taken a count, was 13 years ago as an amateur"...
Thank you. I didn't know that. Only problem I have with the quote is that it's by Claus Borre. Not the most reliable of sources.
It is valid enough He got up and stopped his opponent. But yeah I agree on the Claus Borre observation :good
Abraham would stop him. Kessler is overrated and too much of a basic boxer, plus he is on the downside of his career. He wouldn't be able to duplicate what Dirrell did to him and would end up getting caught and TKO'd.
I did a boxrec on Kessler's opponents and the biggest puncher in Kesslers resume is Carl Froch followed by Calzage and Andrade, yes the same Froch that AA will be fighting on the 2nd. Now my research tells me a couple of things. Other then Calzaghe, who Kessler lost too and who was more of KO artist in his early days, both Carl Froch and Andrade are know by the majority for 1 thing clearly and that is their defensive liabilities, now I am not claiming AA is FMJ here, but I can safely point, not only does AA have a better defense, faster then both respective fighters and also better One punch KO power. Both fighters took Kessler 12 and I was in the minority that had Kessler/Froch a draw. AA vs Kessler is going to have glimpses of AA vs Taylor with Kessler pumping out the jab catching AA's gloves and Arthur waiting for the counter. I think AA is going to catch Kessler more and I would not be surprised with a AA SD. If Kessler was not hard to hit by Froch and Andrade, I honestly think AA hits him as confidently and may even TKO Kessler. Presently this fight is in favor of AA in my books 55/45
Kessler. What is it with all these people. Abraham is a former MW with no real SMW resume, whos big MW win was against who? Kessler is a proven world class SMW and proven at the weight, something which Abraham still isnt really.
Kessler has beaten M Siaca - then WBA champ A Mundine - a 2 time WBA champ E Lucas -a former WBC champ M Beyer - then WBC champ, 3 time WBC champ L Andrade - undefeated 24-0 18KOs D Sartison - now WBA champ and 22-0 14 KOs C Froch - then WBC champ undefeated 26-0 20 KOs I would guess his best win could be M Beyer the 3 time WBC champ who had wins over D Green, R Woodhall, E Lucas etc. But This content is protected of these fighters mentioned have a better SMW resume than Abraham or even Dirrell who has a DQ win over Abraham
I agree and thank you for your detailed post Bailey. The thing is Arthur has 2 official fights at SMW and his catchweight SMW fight against Miranda. So obviously Kesslers resume will be a lot more polished because he made a career at SMW while Arthur is barely moving up fighting the top 5 SMWs in the division. Another question for you, if Arthur fought Kesslers resume you mentioned how do you think he would fair against them? Just wondering? Thank you for your time.:good
Beyer and Mundine would've a snowball's chance in hell against Abraham. Lucas is completely unknown to me, Andrade and Sartison would be closer but no real challenge and Froch we will see...
Once upon a time it would have been Kessler for an easy decision win by just outboxing the smaller Abraham. Nowadays Kessler is not as sharp and can't box as well. He got beat up by Ward and went to war with Froch. I still take Kessler in a close fight.
Thats right AA hasnt yet had many SMW fights and the ones he has had werent enough to convince me so far... Miranda was only 2 journeyman fights past being KOd by Pavlik Taylor was coming off a KO loss Dirrell had lost to Froch and was really the first fresh SMW AA had fought and Dirrell was a SMW who had been put down by journeymen and lost to the strong but limited Froch. That isnt bashing Dirrell but just not getting caught up in the hype. If AA had of fought Kesslers SMW resume, I think he would have had mixed results, this is how I think it would have gone M Siaca - Win for AA, probably a KO A Mundine - I think would have outpointed AA like Dirrell was, Mundines chin isnt as bad a it looks in losing to light punching Ottke due to a bit of fatigue. Mundine took much harder shots from Kessler and Echoles etc E Lucas - Think AA would outpoint Lucas M Beyer - Outpoints AA. Beyer had up and dpwn moments but when up for a fight like he would have been for AA, I think Beyer outpoints him. Beyer was very mobile when he wanted to be L Andrade - AA on points D Sartison - I think Sartison would outpoint AA in an upset C Froch - We will find out soon for sure, but I think Froch wins on points but takes a few big punches on the way I have alot of admiration for Kessler since being a world champ first time round hes fought 5 undefeated fighters winning 3 of those Hes fought away against Haussler in Germany, Ward in America, Calzaghe in Wales and Mundine in Australia
