It seems someone bought that explanation from the HBO commentators. Personally, I though it was ridiculous.

:lol:well that was a joke but seriously i thought they missed quite a few punches for alexander.

imo he was splitting the guard more than he's given credit for. His punches just didn't have the same effect

    you mean they weren't effective?

seriously, I thought they gave him credit for alot of those punches that landed on the guard.

I thought 4 jabs landed was being generous. If you're watching the fight tell me when all those jabs landed in that round..

I'm rescoring it as well. Have the first 2 for Kotelnik. In the second round, he landed about 3-4 clean power punches, and landed his jab much more than DA.

not watching it at the moment (****ing PVR is busted) and likely my memory of last night is off.

the effectiveness, or lack of, alexander's punches is the best reason why an argument can be made why he lost. last night i compared the fight to hagler/leonard and i still think it's valid: alexander never hurt or stunned AK. he was busy, he tapped him and tried to steal rounds

no doubt about it though 1)AK did more damage every single round 2)AK landed the better shots

it's the volume of them that i question and the number of rounds in which he did the work vs number of rounds he took "off"

Quality is kind of shitty on the fight I downloaded, but I'll give R3 to Alexander. Kotelnik had a nice series late in the round, but was mostly outworked and DA did get in some good body punches and kept him occupied...

round 3 Alexander but I feel I am being generous. Kotelnik landed the more effective punches but Alexander touched him up and at least connected clean in this one more consistantly. The commentators are so bad. "Alexander having his way with Kotelnik" what?

IF you gave it to Kotelnik, I take it you also game the Manny vs. Clottey fight to Clottey?

how's that? Manny landed more than twice as many punches on Clottey as Clottey landed on Manny.

Kotelnik actually landed more shots on Alexander than Alexander landed on Kotelnik

Alexander could learn a thing or two from watching that fight.

R4 goes to Kotelnik on my card. Blocked just about everything. DA very ineffective. Kotelnik landing the clean punches still. 3-1 AK through 4.

4-1 Kotelnik through 5. R5 was all Kotelnik...showing much better timing and defense. Alexander had a good 30 second stretch, but it wasn't enough to make up for the clean work AK did earlier. And AK finished strong too.
