116-112 Across the Board???

Not sure exactly what to make of the scores of both fights last night. I had Alexander winning 115-113 and I had the Johnson-Cloud fight a draw. Does anyone find it interesting, though, that in two extremely close fights with a lot of rounds that could have gone either way, that all 3 judges in both fights had it 116-112?? I guess I'd have to go back and look at some historical fights, but that can't happen too often. Especially with two fights as close as last nights. Not sure what I'm trying to say here, but I just thought that was very interesting.

 

this fight certainly seems to have drastically split opinions.

some have it close for Alexander, some have it wide for Alexander, some have it wide for Kotelnik.

 

Someone had it wide for Alexander? That would have to be a very small minority.

I had it 117-111 Alexander. You can not win a fight throwing 3 shots a round.

 

I wouldn't call 116-112 "wide," but that's exactly what I scored for Alexander. He outworked Kotelnik in the majority of rounds, pure and simple.

When Don King is involved in the promotion I am not surprised at ANY scorcard I see.

I expected his fighters to win across the board with scores of 150-135. And still there would be no investigation on judges turning in bull**** scores or being payed off.

 

Kotelnik had all assessment criteria on his side in a solid majority of the rounds. There is no controversial

Kotelnik was landing his punches, he was forcing the fight, he came out on top when they went toe-to-toe.

even Alexander's corner were getting desperate, they thought he was losing.

Did you not notice that the majority of Alexanders shots were blocked? Kotelniks shots were much more clean and effective.

Alexander landed less. Koelnik landed more often and with greater accuracy.

Alexander was on the back foot, Kotelnik was pressing the action.

Alexander was rocked (not hurt), having his head snapped back several times, Kotelnik not once.

I can't see how you anyone could score the fight for Alexander, never mind wide!

You can only hope Alexander leanrs from it as if it was a loss, because if he treats it like the clear unanimous decision he actually got, he won't improve, and he won't challenge Khan or Bradley.
