I was wondering who everyone thinks will be boxing's next superstar. Right now there are only two boxers we can call superstars and they are Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. Pac got his status by having great matches in the ring with an exciting style while Mayweather got his status by being cocky, charismatic, and showing personality outside the ring. Got any ideas who will be next to reach superstar status?
I dont know if he'll reach superstar status because he's a bantemweight but Abner Mares looks very promising. His fight with Perez was one of the best of this year, he's only 24 and speaks Spanish and English.
Either Khan, Ward, or Haye (if he fought and beat the Klits). I only put Haye on the list because he's a heavyweight, has an exciting fighting style and the cocky personality to be a superstar. However since he's ducking the Klits he probably never will be.
Fighters at his weight class never become superstars unless they are able to move up a bunch of weight classes, which I don't think he can due to his lack of size. I am a fan of his though.
I think Haye has the potential to be the biggest star in boxing. He's a HW, he's got speed, power, and charisma. However, he needs to fight more often and he needs to beat Wlad. If he can do that, he'll be pulling in Mayweather type money. Ward could be a star as well, but he needs to be a little more exciting in there. He's still pretty young, but Alvarez has star potential as well.
People will laugh at me for saying this, but ****'em, I still think Alexander will be the next main star of the sport.
I gotta go with Matt Remilard. He's young, very talented, undefeated, and easily marketable. I give it another 2 years and he will be figthing in some really high profile fights.
I'd put my money on Alvarez if I had to pick one. I can also see a future where 6-8 boxers develop a solid fan base and we see many 500K plus PPV buy events instead of two boxers carrying the sport.
