Hughes vs Hallman almost makes sense now but Hughes did say he thinks he has another title run in him yet so hopefully he caan get another good fight.

Hughes said he isn't fighting again until next year which means he'll probably get a title shot if Kos beats GSP. If that doesn't happen I hope a Hallman fight does.

you mean he choked out a guy who was almost out after the punch. you make it seemed like hughes won out a grappling battle.

It was a unique and entertaining submission nonetheless.

I'm suprised that when hurt and he saw Hughes running he ducked his head first rather than fall back to try and pull guard. That mistake cost him the fight.

I think if he had it over to do again, he would try to pull guard, but still could have got smashed from there.

He looked to be trying to stand out to base, which would work against guys without the headlock of Hughes.

I've gotta say I was really impressed with Hughes. I had counted him out and saw him as over the hill after his loss to Alves. The Serra and Renzo fights gave us little indication as well, but with a win over a younger guy with less ring wear in Almeida I think he proved he is still quite relevant. Hats off to him.

I thought the Gracie win was nice but a bull**** fight against an old fighter. Something to keep Matt in the game, much like Couture vs Coleman (in fairness Couture is also old and Coleman came off a good win).

In the beginning I was thinking Almeida might be too rangey. Hughes corner called for the 1-3 and he threw the 3 and boom, the rest is history, well almost but you know the rest.

It is a quality win from a quality fighter who may be a bit past it but can still get the odd good win. I don't think Hughes can carry GSP's jockstrap now, if ever (apart from one night) but I would like to see Hughes pick up a good contender win before calling it a day.
