Funniest was when they had lined up the career featherweight J Marquez, and people said no Maidana,,,

    then

JMM sais no to the fight

then they pulled out good ol pillow hands Paulie

now that was funny. Maidana got a nice chunk of change for that

I actually said it's not the likely outcome, but was a possibility.

Wow you really got me there.

Did Lennox Lewis have a bad chin? He was knocked out and TKO'd!

Did Joe Louis have a bad chin. He was knocked out.

first off i was responding to that post, i was saying i dont think he will ever be classed as having a good chin.

secondly, it is different with tommy hearns, he was stopped for the first time as a champion. khan and wlad where stopped at similar ages in a similar time in their career. that is why i compared them two cases.

even with hearns, after getting stopped by leonard it took him over a year to fight a decent opponent, that was benitez.

after losing to hagler he dropped back down a division. and again waited over a year befor taking on a worthwhile opponent.

now hearns is of course, like i said, a different kettle of fish. he was a well established champ by his first knockout loss.

khan and wlad where young prospects when they first got stopped. and in the 5 fights since both lost khan has undoubtedly faced a better level of opposition. which is why i see the hate as both pointless and premature.

exactly yet the two losses will always hang over him and label him as chinny.no matter who khan fights he will always have that same question mark also.

will you still say its carefully matched if he takes on jmm next?

there is a difference between carefully matching someone and ducking opponents.

kotelnik was a valid champ. salita was an unbeaten madatory. paulie was a good fight to make stylistically as he has a very good chin and wouldnt get blown away by khans handspeed. i reckon next up will be marquez as he had reportedly vacated his belts. whilst i will hope khan can win it, i highly doubt he has the tools to beat marquez.

It's careful and clever to match Khan vs JMM, no doubt about it.

I just want to see him fight the best in his division.

That's not hating, that's just me as a boxing fan, wanting to see the top guys fight the other top guys.

although i think Khan - JMM potentially could be a good competitive fight for khan, I would have preferred it if khan took on his mandatory first.

no doubt the JMM fight makes better business sense to GB and Khan, but most boxing fans won't appreciate JMM being used as a stepping stone.
