this is a 2 part thread.

    question one:
in floyd's entire career who did he truly "duck"

    question two:

in moving up floyd skipped a lot of fighters from 130-147/154. Of those fighters he missed, what would the final out come have been?

the whole concept of ducking is bull****.

important guys he didn't fight, for whatever reason, but that he could have are...

Fraitas, Casamayor, Tszyu, Cotto, Margo, Pac.

you can't say Mosley cause even though Floyd fought him far from his best, he still fought him.

I think he loses a couple of those fights. The consistancy of hard fights would've got to him and some are bad style matchups like Casa at 130 and also Pac is straight up better than Floyd.

    True ducks:

only cotto. but depending on how you look at it he just made a bad decision in not fighting cotto early. IMO he was waiting for cotto to beat margarito then beat oscar then he would ahve fought him. All the other is non sense

    skips:

    casamayor
    tzysu
    tackie
    margarito
    cotto
pacquioa ( at this point )

I can't even think of who else... I think he would have beat all of em tho.... no bs either

    skips@135- casa, freitas,
skips@140-hatton, i dont count zoo because that fight was hbo vs sho. although he wanted to fight hatton it was hatton who did not want to fight, same with cotto at 140
skips@147- cotto, marg. I feel he should have fought at least one of the two, he chose to take time off. i cant argue with that decision because he fought to the top so who is to tell him he cant take time to heal and recharge his batteries.

IMO all this ducking talk is BS, and most of it comes from people who weren't even watching boxing until recently. there area few people he could have fought, but that comes with greatness, people are never satisfied and find ways to discredit you.

I don't think you can say people are never satisfied I mean Floyd is considered the 2nd best fighter of his generation. I think that's commendable and no small feat especially when you got a guy like Pacquiao in the same era.

Forget personalities and all that bull**** lets just talk how good these guys are as prizefighters man. Floyd is one of the best no doubt and when it comes to that he gets the credit that he's due.

ur a reasonable poster so its easy for you to say...and its debatable whether he is 1st or 2nd its not as clear cut as u make it...some people use their hatred for a fighter to discredit their acheivements

I think its pretty clear cut. So do most people. There are a few people who disagree but the vast majority are on the same page here.

Anyways, that doesn't mean Floyd is not great.

If you are a Floyd fan you are too biased to tell if he ducked or missed fights.
Having the top network create a marketing machine spinning out Floyd is the best for years and years without the true tests almost brainwashes you.

Enough people have always been suspicious of the coincidence of many dangerous fighters lurking at his weight, below it or right above it even calling it the heyday of lower weights and you just never saw him in the ring with them. It is always a fight where it seemed Floyd has a major handicap advantage and there are 3-5 guys his opponent faced that would make it much more competitive. Just look at the pressure that had to be put on Floyd to face Mosley at 39.

The problem is people just take a list of credible opponents he could of fought and say he ducked them.

Yet they don't use this logic for any other fighter out there.

When he left the highest ranked welterweight was who? Cotto around 10th?

When he came back 2 of the top 3 P4P guys were in the WW division.

Thats because the top fighters he didnt fight when he retired fought each other and the winners climbed ranks.

i dont know about actually ducking them, but a lot of other guys would've looked better on his resume then some that were chosen.....

    FREITAS
    CASAMAYOR
    TSZYU
    COTTO
    OSCAR AND SHANE YEARS AGO
    FORREST
